    Picture quality is fantastic - definitely worth upgrading from DVD. Jack Nicholson's wrinkles have never looked finer.

  2.  The Blufather

    I was really looking forward to the Blu-ray release of the Godfather films. Unfortunately, picture quality is not noticeably better than a standard DVD and is grainy in a lot of scenes. If you already own the Coppola Restoration on DVD, I wouldn't recommend upgrading to Blu-ray if you think it will have superior picture quality. You may end up disappointed like me. The films are of course fantastic and under normal circumstances, this would get the five stars, but I'm going to minus one for the disappointing picture quality.

    You all know the film, so I'll just review the disc. The Blu-ray contains all the extra features found on the DVD (sadly, nothing extra) and picture quality is stunning. Definitely worth upgrading from DVD to Blu-ray. I noticed things in the background I had never noticed before, so the experience of watching this classic film on Blu-ray is like watching it for the first time again! Recommended.

  4.  TV Drama. Redefined.

    Despite being a fan of mob movies, I never managed to catch The Sopranos when it was broadcast on TV (I'm always too busy to properly follow a TV station's schedule). Nonetheless, I heard it was a good show, so I took the plunge and purchased the complete box set.

    Boy, am I glad I did!

    The Sopranos is compulsive viewing. I managed to watch all six seasons over the course of one month, because when one episode finishes, you're simply dying to watch the next! Each episode is crammed with interesting characters, cutting dialogue and first-rate acting. And although classified as a TV drama, there is a lot of humour injected into each episode, so its not all downbeat and grim - you'll be laughing during scenes as well!

    For fans of mob movies, The Sopranos is essential viewing. For casual fans, it still makes a great TV show. I know because my wife could care less for mob movies but even she would sit there watching episodes with me... Because its not just about the Mafia. Its about family and relationships as well - but certainly not in the "boring" way you may think it is.

    Highly recommended.

    If you're new to Elvis and wondering whether you should get this or 'Elvis: 30 #1 Hits', my recommendation is that this is the album to get. This 2-CD set contains all 30 tracks from that album plus 22 additional tracks including classics like 'An American Trilogy' and 'Viva Las Vegas'. A fantastic compilation that showcases what Elvis was all about!

    As with most Only Fools & Horses DVDs, this one has also been edited for "contractual reasons". Missing scenes include a hilarious meet-and-greet between the Trotters and the Mafia men. Originally broadcast as two episodes, they've been put together on the DVD and a horrendous laughter track has been added, making the dialogue difficult to hear at times. The show itself would get four stars, but due to the edits and sound mix, this DVD gets one.

    If you own this on VHS - treasure it. The DVD version has been cut to shreds, missing approximately 22 minutes of footage. 22 minutes! There are small edits on most Only Fools & Horses DVDs, but the hacking job on this one really takes the biscuit. Normally this show would get four stars. This awful excuse for a DVD gets one. In short, keep or buy the VHS copy, avoid the DVD
