  1.  Looks poor on Blu ray

Yes a good movie - but so what if Spielberg wanted the grainy and overblown dayglo effects - it looks terrible on Blu Ray - if you already own the DVD and your player is good at upscaling then stick there and save your money!!!!

  2.  Better on Blu Ray?

I already have the Region 1 DVD with the DTS soundtrack and compare the Blu Ray with this. This is an old movie by Blu Ray standards and I think it was difficult to transfer to Blu Ray given the raw material. I was disappointed at the quality of both sound and video. Sound is delivered in DTS HD MA but it is an average soundtrack with far too much delivered via the centre channel. Video in the brighter parts of the movie is good but not great by Blu Ray standards. Much of the movie as we all know is in darker sequences and this is where older movies suffer under a Blu Ray transfer with a lot of "grainyness" evident - some sequences are quite poor e.g. under the waterfall / in the fort at night. I use a Denon DBP2012UD player via a Denon AVR1910 Amp to 6 Mission speakers. My view - stick to the DVD.

  3.  Great card

Best price I could find and works a treat with my Nikon D3100.

  4.  Twitchy

Picture and sound are fine but mine got twitchy after the 12 month warranty had just expired - would play a perfect disk one day but on another day the same disk got the player in such a state that the only way to resolve the issue was to remove the power cord. Pioneer not interested as warranty expired. Looking to replace it after 14 months service. I won't be choosing another Pioneer.
