Its clear that there is a heavy 80's electro pop influence in this album. Although i was a child of the 80's and a lover of most things of this decade (other than the appalling fashion), i didnt really warm to it on first listen, didnt really like the style and the style of the vocals (a far cry from their earlier work).
However, as with so much music that you like on first listen, it doesnt really have much longevity and you grow tired and bored with it far too soon.
This is definately not the case with Black Light. It just gets better with each play. I can confidently say that its probably their most innovative album to date. As in true groove Armada form, they just keep reinventing themselves, each time arguably better than before. I can assure you, you will have never heard Groove Armada like this before.
Give the album time, it requires an open mind and a little patience, only then will it grow on you... like a rash!
In conclusion... Top album, quite possibly one of the best to date. Would thoroughly recommend, even to people that were'nt particular fans previously.
