  1.  Cool looking jacket - Very light and ready to go!

    Posted:

This is a great looking jacket that's casual but smart. It's understated and that's what i liked most about it. It aint boring but doesnt look like your making an effort either.

The only down side is that it aint very warm so you'd have to wear another couple of layers in the winter.

For those who want to know the material; Outer & Inner body lining...100% cotton. The Outer Body is in Olive colour/Inner in green. Sleeve Lining 100% Polyester in olive colour...hope this helps.

Overall this is a quality coat for the price. 7/8 - 10

  2.  One Hell of a Jacket!

This jacket is simply awesome! I was initially put off by the price. I bought it when it was £34.99 and i'm over the moon. This would be a bargain even at full price.

The coat is warm, compfy, fits well...i'm a medium and it's fits like a glove. I would say you could wear this in the Spring, Autumn & Winter...possibly even summer but only on those wet crappy days.

This is one of the best jackets you will own - don't delay! 10/10

  3.  One of the worst 1st person shooters on the ps3!

    Posted:

I'll be short and to the point. Do NOT buy this game. To start with the default controls are so badly positioned. You are unable to turn or go in another direction when running.

Tanks cannot run down wire barriers and sandbags - how unrealistic!

Lastly and most important...the overall graphics would be considered poor for even a ps2 game...nevermind a ps3.

I luckily paid just £9 for the game and I still felt robbed.

This game is on the way out within 1 hours play on single player and online.

    0/5 stars

  4.  Not the best Chan films but well worth a watch! A must 4 me!

The Secret Service; A scientist working on a new invention to protect Allied shipping from U-boat torpedoes has assigned the Secret Service for protection.

Bizarrely, he invites friends to a dinner party at his mansion. Not surprisingly, he is murdered from a fatal dose of electricity.

This is a good whodunit with plenty of red herrings to keep you entertained to the very end.

This is my favorite of the set and is most definitely one of Monograms better efforts.

    Film Quality 8/10;

The Jade Mask; when an eccentric scientist working on a formula to make wood as hard as steel is found dead.

Charlie Chan, with the help from his uninvited No4 son, attempt to unravel the mystery behind the missing formula.

This is a good mystery that has all the trimmings, a spooky mansion, hidden laboratory, secret panels, an inscrutable butler, and greedy relatives to boot.

This is one whodunit that in all probability will have you scratching your head to the very last. But not in a good way.. the ending is so implausible and unrealistic.

All in all, it's still an enjoyable film, just a shame about the far fetched ending.

    Film Quality 8/10

The Chinese Cat; Thomas P. Manning, businessman and chess expert, is mysteriously shot in a locked room, his hand clutching a chess piece. Sounds like a job for Jonathan Creek!

Police abandon the case after making no inroads into the identity of the murderer.

Six months later, the victim's daughter, annoyed by a scurrilous book about the case, enlists the aid of Charlie Chan.

Additional murders follow, leading to a climactic confrontation in a seemingly deserted fun house involving a group of jewel thieves.

This is a good film that holds a good atmosphere for a lower budget Monogram film.

    Film Quality 7/10

The Shanghai Cobra; A crook known as the 'cobra killer' attempts to steal radium from a sixth national bank.

The gang are not only keeping their identity a secret from Chan but from a man they framed 8 years before in Shanghai.

Anybody trying to thwart their evil plan turns up dead...death by cobra venom.

Can Chan discover who is behind the devilish scheme, and what of the man who disappeared those many years ago...is he friend, foe or come back from the dead?
I think the film has its moments. The idea of the jukebox in the diner was very original...can't say anymore than that without giving it away.

Although the film has some good ideas it doesnt stand up against many other Chan movies.

    Film Quality 6/10

The Scarlet Clue; Charlie Chan investigates the theft of important government radar papers from a laboratory situated the floor above a radio station...still can't work that one out!

Mysterious deaths to people associated with the radio show are a result of secret radar espionage.

I did not enjoy this film as much as a lot of the others but is still worth a watch if you fancy a good old 'whodunit'.
    Film Quality 6/10

Meeting at Midnight; when Chan's daughter is witness to the murder of Mr Bonner. Charlie is called in to clear her name and to expose the real killer.

There's a search for a murderer amidst numerous ghosts conjured up by a strange variety of spiritualists and occultists.

This is another Chan film that leaves the watcher bewildered at the end. It's one of those whodunits that leave the audience with a sense of disappointment.

Not once throughout the movie do you ever feel you are close to guessing the culprit.

However far fetched the ending, the film as a whole, is one to sit back and enjoy on a Sunday afternoon.

    Film Quality 5/10

I think I speak on behalf of most people by saying if you can tolerate Mantan Moreland's then this set is a must buy.

  5.  Mad scientist experimentation film!

    Attack of the Puppet people;

Firstly, the title of this film is hugely misleading as there is NO attack from the victims to who have been transformed into small puppet sized people.

The story develops where the unfortunate victims of a doll maker do everything in their power to revert themselves back to normal size.

Questions are asked when people who have been associated with the shop, start to disappear.

The film is reminiscent to that of 'The Devil Doll' & 'The Incredible Shrinking Man' all be it on a much smaller scale.

I much prefer the alternative title 'The Fantastic Puppet People' agreeably this is very corny but is still much closer to the actual story.

Film Quality 5/10; Picture Quality 10/10 (Digitally remastered)

  6.  Mystery melodrama...could have been made into a series.

After watching Park Plaza i looked on the Internet to see whether 'Tom Conway' starred in any more films as 'Norman Conquest'. To my surprise he didn't. The film itself is similar to that of 'The Thin Man' series...arguably not as good of course but all the same, had it's own unique feel. Even down to what would have been the signature tune, if they had made more.

Tom Conway plays the suave private investigator very well, something that audiences became quite accustom to over the years.

One disappointment to mention would be that of Sid James who we've all come to love for his roles in the Carry on Movies and many of his other comedy performances. For once i wasn't inspired. On the other hand i shouldn't stereotype the man. I can't help but feel that if his script was snappier & that bit funnier, he would have made the film that much better.

Overall, the film was a little slow paced and fairly predictable and i although i would watch the film again, i wouldn't say it was any better than a 6/10.

    Picture Quality 10/10 (Digitally Remastered)

  7.  Gothic Horror at it's best!

    Posted:

AKA the red scarf murders is an intriguing story of love, madness and murder. This has to be one of the best gothic horror/murder mysteries ive seen to date. It's definately up there with the best.

Kings' use of sets which, aided by Hone Glendinning's noirish lighting, provides plenty of spooky atmosphere. Although a talkie, is filmed very much like a silent movie.

An over possessive mother in Lady Lebanon deplores with her son 'The Lord William Lebanon' to marry, keeping the Lebanon name going for another generation but why the urgency...? The mystery lies within the past.

This film has everything, strange butlers, a corrupt doctor, a gorgeous dame, a jealous husband, an outspoken chaffeur, a possessive mother & a bestranged son.

Superb performances from many of the cast make this one - not to be missed.

Film Quality 9/10 Picture Quality 10/10 (Digitally Remastered)

  8.  Great film; Superb print!

Mary Carter (Paulette Goddard - Cat and the Canary) inherits her family's ancestral home, located on a small island off Cuba, and, despite numerous warnings and death threats, she decides to take possession of the reputedly haunted castle.

She is joined by radio broadcaster Larry Lawrence Lawrence (Bob Hope) who believes to have killed a mobster, thus attending to flee to New York with his butler, Alex.

With assistance from Miss Carter, Lawrence soon defects from his original plan for a more spooky vacation on Black Island where all three enter an eerie castle as murder and mystery confronts them in this epic of a film.

As well as fighting off a menacing zombie, seeing a ghost of Mary's ancestor and finding the key to the castle's treasure, they're discovery is soon interrupted by the sudden appearance of the guilty party who's warnings to this point, had failed.

Strong performances from Paulette Goddard, Bob Hope, and Richard Carlson contribute to yet another masterpiece of a film.

    The Cat and the Canary;

A will is read, 10 years after the death of eccentric millionaire, Cyrus Canby Norman where all the remaining relatives gather to hear who is to become the sole heir of the Cyrus Fortune.

Due to the streak of insanity in the family, a second will is derived stating that should the heir suffer death within a month of inheriting, the fortune would be passed to the person in the 'never to be opened' second envelope. Good motive for Murder eh?

Following this, Hendricks, a prison guard, warns the household that a homicidal maniac, who inmates call "The Cat", has escaped from the local asylum and is hiding within the bayou. This sets up Cyrus' relatives, who have no way of leaving until the boat arrives the following day, a night filled with murder, mystery and intrigue.

This is by far one of the best murder mysteries made in the thirties.
