  1.  The best concert DVD ever made

OK it helps if you are a Springsteen fan. This DVD reminded me why I am one of them. 25 years after he came to our country with his Born In The USA tour, winning hearts and minds, he returns with this excellent concert film. Beautifully filmed and recorded it makes you laugh, sing and in my case sob a little because I wasn't there that day. It's his best DVD so far, capturing the fun he brings to a show.
If you are a rock fan you NEED this DVD.

  2.  The best album of the 90's quite likely.

Martin Newell is better known to most as a poet. He writes for The Sunday Express now, but wrote for the Independent all through the 90's and the first half of the 2000's. He'd previously been a singer songwriter type with his bands Cleaners From Venus and Brotherhood Of Lizards. Not household names but adored by those who had managed to discover them. In the early 90's after giving up on music for the poetry he was offered the chance to make another record and couldn't refuse when Andy Partridge of XTC said he would produce it.
What you end up with is two like minded men making a record in a shed in Swindon that just happens to be a pop masterpiece. Jangly guitars, unforgettable tunes, some of the best lyrics Ray Davies and Syd Barrett never wrote.
People say they don't make great albums anymore. Maybe they're right. They don't. But Martin Newell does.
