Take a wish list of all the multimedia features you'd want in a phone, then call them the N8. 12 mega-pixel camera for shots that rival dedicated cameras, proper Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon flash, instead of the rubbish lenses and poor LED flashes found on most camera phones. Then add in HD (720p) quality video recording and a separate microphone dedicated to audio capturing crisp sound to accompany all your HD footage. They've even added a HDMI port on the phone; you can pump all that HD footage directly from your phone to your HD TV.

HD Masterpiece
Film, edit and perfect your high-definition masterpieces, then share them with the world. Add music, images, text and transitions - all from the phone. With a large 12 MP sensor and Carl Zeiss optics you can capture great images. The Xenon flash allows you to take good pictures in low-light conditions as well.

Home Theatre
The Nokia N8 features an HDMI connection so you can easily show off your images, videos and music on compatible televisions and projectors. All in stunning high-definition digital 720p resolution. It also features premium-quality Dolby Digital Plus technology - compatible with home theatre systems - so movies will sound as good as they look.

Social Networking
The Nokia N8 brings your friends together, by pulling feeds and updates from Facebook and Twitter to one handy application. Photos and videos can be shared the moment they're captured, Facebook events added to your calendar with just one click. Live updates are shown on your home screens, making it even easier to stay in touch.

Your Own
Personalise your phone by adding your own widgets. Not one but three live home screens - make one for work, use one for fun, and have one with your favourite picture as the wallpaper. Swipe between the home screens with an easy gesture. Download more widgets from Ovi Store.

Voice-guided navigation wherever you are in the world. Absolutely free. Simply enter where you want to go and Ovi Maps with voice guidance will tell you how to get there, turn by turn. By car or on foot.

Pocket TV
The Nokia N8 with on-demand WebTV. Access your favourite TV channels like CNN and National Geographic and get them piped to your phone from the comfort of your bus seat. Visit Ovi Store to find even more WebTV channels.

Turn your Nokia N8 into a tool for showing off, having fun and being creative. In Ovi Store you'll find thousands of different applications to constantly upgrade and improve your device. Download apps, games and videos. The possibilities to make your phone smarter, more useful and simply more fun are endless.

Top 100 Mobile Reviewer

Finally it has arrived! On top of the headline grabbing 12mpxl HD 720p camera with proper flash (which is so far excellent) I could spend ages listing all the features not mentioned above, but I'll pick a few of the obscure but useful: FM transmitter to play through your car radio, full iPlayer support with radio streaming and TV streaming/downloads over 3g or wifi, facebook and twitter widgets that show info from the icon without going in to the app, mutliple mailboxes with headers of the most recent 2 messages in the widget icon... and of course FLASH support so you can actually browse all of the internet.

I like the way you can assign priorities to multiple wifi or 3g data connections, so it will try your home wifi when going online then if thats not available will revert to 3g seamlessly

Everyone is obsessed with the 'apps', the itunes store is 99% full of badly written and pointless junk. With the N8 you get the 1% of good stuff either included already or available free to download from ovi store (eg, the panorama picture app). Plus ovi allows online backup and management of contacts etc

Standard size headphone / headset socket on the top next to the HDMI port. The included charger is a mini-USB style and plugs in the side, but as far as I can tell there is also the old-style round nokia charger socket on the bottom - so that'll be handy!

Of course, seeing as its a Nokia it makes and receives calls with no signal issues!

An excellent phone. Well made and stylish looking. Features are good including video editing and 12mp camera. HDMI to upload to tv is good quality too.

I really like the metal feel and bright screen. Its a little weighty but you know its well made. Slim too. Nice silver edging to buttons and good sound.
Speedy navigation and smooth screen movements.

Overall a very, very good phone by nokia.

 n8 and symbian3 offer a great combo

had the n8 since launch and even sold an iphone4 to buy one

been a nokia lover for ages but after they dryed up a bit i went for an iphone4

as soon as the n8 hit the stores i had to try one out and boy i wasnt dissapointed

it was no hassle to sell the iphone4 and stick with the n8 , the n8 is just the perfect convergance device , with the xenon flash you can take pics night and day ina wesome quality

seriously the photo quality is immense , after you have taken a pic zoom into it and check the captured detail you wont believe its from a camera phone , the detail captured was better then that from my samsung wb600 12mp digital camera its that good and iam now selling the wb600 as apartfrom optical zoom the n8 out performs it in almost every type of shot

wether your using the n8 as a camera , music player , social networking hub ,email device , gps device , web browser , gaming machine or for everything like me it wont dissapoint you pr1.0 firmware is very stable and there is a massive update coming soon adding 50+ ui tweaks and extras

symbian3 shouldnt be compared to other versions of symbian its much much beter and refined and will be recieving alot of updates

i could go on about the n8 all day but its so much to cover

to sum it up it does eevrything really well , is made well , built out of high grade materials and is fun to use and own , the gps is superb and the music player is excellent as is the video player that plays avi and divix out of the box

the box contents are also very good with all the cables you need for hdmi and usb2go etc making it even more of a bargain

another quick thing the iphone4 and the n8 cost the same to make yet the n8 can be bought for 300 from shops and the iphone4 around 550

its a really good phone that i wouldnt hesitate to recomend infact i wanna buy another as a backup i love it that much lol :-)

 Thank You Nokia

I was inspired by all the reviews on here about this phone, and am glad i made the right choice. This really is the Phone to have..I planed to get it for a while, and for my first smart phone, I know i made the correct decision. I love the way you can just make it whatever you want...its no iphone, not made to be an iphone, MADE TO BE BETTER, AND IT IS!

 A great piece of kit.

Several weeks ago I decided to get myself a new phone and began checking reviews online. Lets face it, there's so many out there it's a gamble in the end anyway, but you try your best to narrow it down. I decided on the N8 because I've had many Nokia handsets and have always liked them.
This is my first touchscreen and I was worried that I wouldn't like it, I've got fat fingers and all that.
Anyway, I love this phone. The screen is a dream to use, messaging is so quick. Email is easy to set up, as is the home screen.
The Maps are brilliant, pictures and video are unsurpassed by anything else I've seen and so easy to use.
The Ovi store is great, loads of apps and games, mostly free.
My wife's got the IPhone 4 but the Nokia is the better piece of kit.
They say it's scratchproof but I've not tested it, it's very solid and comfortable to use.
I'm glad that I chose the N8, you should too. It's awesome in orange.
