Brilliant phone but needs user input

| | See all FluidUK's reviews (2)

ok calm down you guys, the phone has windows 5 or 6.5 operating system, agreed its not to good out of the box. The hardware on the phone is fantastic and you wont find a phone to match these specs for this price! The screen is just awsome so is the camera. So what do you do?

You flash an unofficial rom, even android roms are available now, all you need to do is research beforehand because the phone needs to be loaded with flashing utilities. google "xda hd2 leo forum" you have a large hd2 community backing up this phone.

serious problems - buy something else

have had this a year now and not a single day passes without some bug showing itself in the software, despite upgrading the rom etc several times. this phone is simply nowhere near the standard it has been marketed as, as i dont think the product was tested properly before it went on sale. is a shame because its clear it could have been a great phone

  Great

This is a great phone, great specs, and looks better in person than it does in any picture.
Also, you can now get android on this phone, if you know how :)

  not that good

very nice phone but no where near as good as the iphone or android phones, this phone really seems to suffer because of its Windows operating system.

could be a masterpiece... but Win Mobile!!!

| | See all JohnnyICS's reviews (1)

It could have been a masterpiece in the smartphones market ... but, I think, all the marvelous features of this HTC are ruined by the O.S.: Windows Mobile? Oh my!! So why?!?!
Would put in your Ferrari the engine of a Chevrolet?!?
That's all, folks.
For the rest it's just a Masterpiece!
But I'm buying the SAMSUNG GALAXY S ... 4.0" but... who cares about 0.3" less than the HTC? It's a super-Amoled!!

One of the best alternative to iphone!

| | See all Truongyboi's reviews (1)

First thing that anyone says when they turn on the phone is 'wow that screen is massive!', not only it has the largest screen as seen to date, but it has high resolution so you always get exellent vibrant display!
The HD2 is not as big as you think it is, its only slightly wider and taller than the iphone but it is much slimmer and sexy!
The 'HTC sense' is the best home screen i have seen on any phone, all your important information can be acessed quickly with just a slide of a finger. the touch screen has multi-touch capabilities and is very sensitive and responsive.
The camera is very good, speaker is good (sometimes music sound abit distorted when played full volume.)
This phone runs on windows 6.5 OS, in my opinion this OS is good, as you have no limit to what you can do to it, e.g. modify your homescreen, make tweeks to improve phone's functions and many more.
i can only see one downside to htis phone is that it does not have that many apps on the marketplace say the app store on iphone, although developers can devolp their own apps and are usually free to download.
Overall.... A exellent phone, i reckon it is one of the best alternative phones to an iphone! 9.5/10!!

  Multi-Languages

| | See all jimspc01's reviews (1)

I like this HTC HD2 very much but has it been equipped with multi-languages? I visit most Chinese Websites for study and research, so both Chinese and English Languages are important to me.

  fat fingers

i've had this phone for two weeks now and it seems like i've always had it, it's so easy to use and everything you want is easy to find.
i was worried about the touch screen as i've got sausage fingers but because the screen is so big the touch buttons are fairly big,
and if you do make a mistake it gives you options for words it thought you wanted. for a comparrison i tried my friends blackberry bold 9700 which also has a qwerty keypad but found the keys to fiddly so opted for this phone,
sync: as its a windows phone any music you put on your pc is easily transfered in a couple of minutes, i always buy cd's rather than downloads, so i can put my favourite tunes on my xbox 360.
as a music player the htc hd2 isn't going to win any awards but i am over critical when it comes to sound quality i think all phones sound rubbish and tinny unless played through additional speakers or headphones i haven't heard a decent phone music player yet. this phone is great through headphones and has track shuffle(random) and optional playlists for your different moods.
camera, video: my previous phone was a nokia n82 with the same 5mp camera and video, i transfered some pics and video from my old phone and they look even better on this phone with the 4.3 inch screen.
the camera is easy to use and is good quality with an option to focus anywhere on the screen just by touching that area.and the flash is literally blinding.
any of your friends who are on facebook can be easily linked to their mobile number to give the caller their facebook photo and current status update.
the biggest suprise for me because i never used to use it has been the weather and calander which is on the main screen, i'm always using it now if people ask me to meet them or plan a night out just tap the screen and make a note of it with the time and place, not exactly rocket science stuff but i found it really handy. you can add 9 instant links to the main screen for instant access to your favourite applications.
i'm charging the phone once a day but i am always on it and have everything switched on bluetooth, internet, push emails.
the phone feels quite heavy and sturdy and it is fairly big but 85% of that is all screen, you want a big screen you need a big phone.
i would highly reccommend this phone as for it being an iphone beater i've only used one for about an hour but was impressed by it. but this is my phone and i am also highly impressed by it!

Great phone :-) rubbish keyboard :-(

| | See all kungfuchitzu's reviews (1)

I got this phone and was very pleased with it. It's fast, lots of great features but the qwerty key is very, very poor! Typing messages was a long and drawn out affair with plenty of mistakes. With such a big screen this shouldn't have been a problem. I have to admit I found it such a problem and was getting so annoyed with it i have sent it back!
