I have been using the CR-114 for 2 weeks and it's a very good product. I have been using this with a Nokia N95 8GB mobile phone and have used it mounted to the windscreen.
So I ordered this on a Monday, it was dispatched Tuesday, and arrived Friday.
When I opened it, I attached the holder bit to the windscreen mount bit, which was very easy to do, just slot it in and turn 90 degrees. And it's quite easy to operate the clamp bit that holds the mobile phone in place. You just push a button and the clamps separate automatically. Then you push the clamps together manually to tighten the device in place. There are foam pads on the inner sides of the plastic clamps so there is a soft (but firm) contact between the clamp and the mobile phone. I have noticed if I put my N95 8GB into the holder then close the clamps, it doesn't hold the phone tight in place! So I have to take the phone out, close the clamps a bit more, like an extra few millimetres, then squeeze the phone into place. That works. Also, I haven't had any problems with the clamps/foam pads pressing any buttons on the sides of my phone, which someone on the internet said can happen with this holder. Also, there is no obstruction to the bottom part of my phone so I can charge it without a problem.
Now, obviously you should be able to swivel the holder bit around to suit. On mine, it appeared to be fixed! I couldn't move the holder around at all. I was scared to push it hard in case I break it. It was very stiff. In fact, I started to think that it was designed to be fixed and not mobile. Then I mustered up the courage and pushed it HARD, and it slackened and started working. Phew! And I was already wondering how much postal charges would be to send this back to Play.com! But it was fine after that and isn't too loose or too stiff now. I can move it around in different directions without a problem.
To mount this onto the widscreen, you simply push the round sucker bit against the glass and turn the plastic thing around it to lock it into place by vacuum suction. Then if you want to take it off, just turn it the other way and pull the sucker off.
There is also a dashboard mount adhesive pad that comes with this if you want to fix the mobile holder onto your dashboard instead of the windscreen. But I haven't used it because I prefer mounting it on the windscreen.
I have probably mounted this on my windscreen about 20 times now, and it has actually fallen off once, which happened about 5 mins after mounting, so I think it was my fault in not securing it properly. Also, the phone doesn't vibrate around when I drive (like it did with a cheap holder I used to own). All the components are stiff enough and sturdy to ensure the phone moves with the car with every bump I drive over.
There are officially a number of phones that are compatible with this holder and dimensions of compatible devices are provided in the specs. In reality, this holder will fit most devices that are 40-65mm wide. But it's probably best to stick to the official dimensions. The CR-115 holder is available for devices with slightly different dimensions.
All in all, this is a quality Nokia product and it works well. It may appear faulty at first because of its stiffness, but that's normal. This is sturdy and strong and I hope this lasts me many years to come.
