HTC One X Sim-Free 32GB Unlocked Mobile Phone (Black)

Had this phone for nearly three weeks now - recently upgraded from HTC Desire HD.

Pros:

Screen is exceptional - Super LCD2 is huge improvement upon Super LCD1. Rich colours and great high def screen.

Beats audio sounds fantastic. You do need to get a good set of headphones though, the ones which come with the phones aren't great.

Camera is very good - hold the shutter button down and it'll take loads of shots in a very small amount of time. Even gives you option to accept phone's suggestion of best pic and delete rest (or you can keep all) - good for gigs and fast moving objects.

1080p video recording is very nice, plus you can take still photos whilst recording a video.

Very fast phone - menus, web browsing, game loading etc.

Nice and slim - feels solid and durable, with a nice finish.

HTC Sense overlay - still so much more intuitive and nicer to use than iOS or touchwiz.

Cons

Battery really isn't good. We all know that smartphones have low battery lives, but this one really is bad. Worse than my 19 month old Desire HD! Am aware of tips for saving battery life - keep WiFi/Internet off, dim screen etc, but still lasts just under a day with moderate useage. Such a pity - the mp3 player is so good, but I daren't use it for more than an hour on a long train journey.

Push email does not work. I'm pretty tech savvy and have adjusted the push/sync settings correctly, but it simply won't push my hotmail emails to my phone - I have to go in and check manually . Tried unsyncing my hotmail account and resyncing it, but to no avail. I've found a way around this by downloading the official hotmail app, which works fine, so I get my emails pushed that way. Shouldn't have to have done this though. Didn't need to with Desire HD, push worked perfectly fine on that. Not sure if this is a Sense 4.0 issue or Ice Cream Sandwich issue? This is the 2nd One X that I'm aware of which has this problem. The One S wins outright on the battery life front - my friend getst just under two days on one charge with moderate useage.

after upgrading to this phone, had it three days started getting screen banding issues! found myself charging this phone twice a a day!! The camera is terrible! my camera on my old nokia n95 is ten times better!!! Also this phone is too big when sitting down this the phone in my pocket would find switching itself on and off due to position and angle of the on button... i really wanted to like this phone the screen does look amazing and OS is great but just couldnt live with this phone. And the poor build quality! ohhh and found back would scratch up so easily after 3 days use!!!

this mobile by far is one of the best in the market for speed, camera ,speaker quality,browser experience are amazing but it also has so many innovative gadgets that make other phone users envy your mobile it does have its ups and downs with battery but i found it better that other htc phones because it switches to a companion core to take on small jobs which can prolong the battery. this phone just keeps on suprising me 9/10 only for battery

Amazing phone, first HTC I've owned as I never like the HTC screens or interface but this is totally different, if you are used to Galaxy S type of phone you will love this. The screens go sideways now instead of just up and down like they used to, the battery life is incredible if you turn off auto birghtness and set it to about a third, camera is amazing, video and stills, superb rich colours and amazing definition, the actual screens on the phone are unreal, incredibly rich deep colours and a beautiful high def look with softer looking icons, speed of incredible this thing is a flying machine the way it loads internet stuff, loads normal screens and flicks between stuff, some of the built in wallpapers are visually stunning and i cant take my eyes of the screen alot of the time, phone is very slim and really light, feels like the battery is missing, very well built, no little scuttles or shakes anywhere feels like a really solid unibody design with a gorgeous matt polycarbonate material on the back which is scratch proof and a lovely soft feel makes holding it a pleasure...all in all i have had samsungs for years including both galaxy s models and this blows them away...dont wait for iphone 5 it wont get anywhere near this...

Having owned a few HTC's in the past, I can wholeheartedly say that this is HTC's best effort yet. Of course, there'e the indisputable downside's of poor battery life, but this ain't exclusive to HTC...

But the screen, the camera, the MP3 playback, video recording etc., are - arguably - probably the best that a sub 500 quid phone has yet seen.

This phone, or should we say mini-tablet, is a real head turner and looks the biz. Should you be considering an upgrade any-time soon, don't leave this off your short-list.
