     Excelent Phone

I thought I'd wait a few days after recieving the phone to write my review.

I'll start by saying its an excellent phone, the keys take a little while to get used too but after a day or so I can write a good lengthed e-mail in about 5 min's

It has a lot of great features that are easy to get used to as well, I'd reccomend to anyone

I notice the price has gone down since I bought it as well - oh well haha

    --------------------------------------------------

my original review is left above - as is

after owning this phone for just over a month I wouldn't paticularly recomend it to anyone that likes to get things in a hurry.

i know SE boasted about their increased ram for this phone, but it can still take up to 10 - 15 seconds to open an SMS message with al other applications closed!

If yu are thinking of buying this for emails...dont...im on a 20mb data plan and my bill this month is £300 for all the connection time it takes to recieve/send emails.

i tried to justify liking this phone in every possible way bu I just cant see myself living with it much longer and having to worry about the precious touch screen getting damaged all the time.

I have just purchased a Samsung G600 so I will share my thoughts on that once i have a little play with it

     What a phone...

Got this a week ago and have spent a few days getting the configuration right. Installed google maps and fring for skype or messenger.

I wanted a phone I could use on wifi and this does just the job. Skype works fine through fring even on skype out.

Touchscreen works perfectly and the qwerty keyboard is a beauty to use. I have configured gmail and that was quite simple. email can be downloaded using wifi again so no extra data cost.

Switching between wifi and 3g is easy so you can maximize free wifi if you do not have a data plan.

Size is good. definitely pocket friendly, even with the included pouch. Wider than my old W800i but thinner too.

    Bad points.....
Not much really, wifi can be difficult to configure and the video streaming from sites like youtube does not appear to work very well.

    Overall a great phone.

     The best of all worlds

    Top 100 Mobile Reviewer

The hardware is fine - lacks GPS, but the current mobile offerings are some what useless anyway. Installing Google Maps (for free) helps to get round any real need for mapping.

The software is fine. A step up from the M600i. Still got bugs in when certain exceptional circumstances occur - "press phone lock at exactly the same time a text message arrives causes the phone to reset"

Battery life is improved over the M600 with approximately 2 days of moderate to high use. The M600 would normally only last a day of use.

For an office phone its very good, the Exchange software syncs fine, it does POP3 if you need it - the 3.2MP camera is good; one issue is that the front camera can not be used as a camera, only for video call.

All in all I am very please with the phone that allows me to do the following:

    Video Calls
    Work Email
    Browse the web
Watch 3G video downloads (Prem League)

Buy it and you probably will be happy. I too bought this when it was higher in price - owned it from then day of launch.

    (24.10.2007 - Update)
Everything above still stands. Excellent all round phone. Great service in bad area - i even get signal on some tube stops!
One feature that is reoccuring and somewhat annoying is that on large emails the ActiveSync software sometimes crashes when you try to reply and include all the previous text. The simple work around is to create a new mail - so not a show stopper.
Great phone and still (after many months of ownership) very much recommended.

     Excellent Smart Phone

I previously had a SE P990i which this model replaced.

The main differences on the plus side between this and the P990i are that this has a more powerfull processor, a much stronger steel frame, a longer stylus, seems to be quicker downloading internet pages, has full today details on the home screen, has a 3.2 mp camera, and is smaller and lighter. There are no real down sides although the screen is slightly smaller (2.6 inches as opposed to 2.8), and the qwerty rocker keyboard takes a little getting used to, but is ultimately more comfortable to use.

Like the P990i the Quick Office software included is fine for viewing and updating excel and work doc's that are not huge (in word terms abour 28 pages). If you wish to work on very large documents I found that Documents To Go can cope with documents 100 pages long (this is 3rd party software that I purchased seperately.

Other 3rd Party software I use is the SlovoeEd dictionary (works fine although generates a message everytime you shut the software down), and Handy Safe (secure passwords). Sony Ericsson Media Studio 3 is good for converting DVD Films to your phone. Google Maps works fine although the version I tried to download from the Sony Ericsson web-site would not pass the security check (I simply downloaded a older version from elsewhere).

The P990i was an excellent phone once the firmware was updated. This phone seems to be fine without firmware updates (right first time!).

Top Tips- The hardware back key doubles up as a key lock. Simply keep your finger on the button to lock/unlock the device.

My 8GB memory card works fine with this phone.

I downloaded the xjaguar blue theme (free) from the internet which I personally feel works very well.
