This is the 1st new mobile phone ive had, after having to put up with my sisters old phones that she gave me..e.g the k750i...., and compared to that i thought the w960 is amazing!
when i was lookin for a phone to buy i wanted a new stylish, clever phone, and i got this amazing thing! 8gb internal memory so no need to splash the cash for any memory cards! and good video and music quality! can upload all ure music memory from ure computer which i have alot of!!!
walkman has been updated to type of mood and visualisation which i thought was greeeat:)
when i first went into the shop to buy the phone, the shop assistant said that not much of these phones had been sold! I couldnt understand why..well maybe because of the price tag, but ive gotten mine on contract...so its allgurd!:D the games are also great too:D
A*
I did have high hopes for this phone i really did, the feature set is to die for, from the 8gb internal memory o the symbian touchscreen interface and its there where the problem lies. It is so frustrating to use, this isn't just me jumping on the bandwagon in knocking this phone, there are so many lines of information when you go into the options that its impossible to use the touchscreen with your fingers, you either have to use the supplied stylus or use the jogwheel on the side which kind if defeats the object of the touchscreen, the whole experience just puts you off the phone which is a great shame as the Walkman is top notch as per usual, its not too bulky for a phone with an 8gb memory, come SE sort the touchscreen out and you will have a cracking phone instead of just an 'ok' phone as it stands now. Shame.
Impressive looks, shabby user interface

The moment I saw the pre-release pictures, I was floored. The specs seemed too good to be true. It was a dream phone for me (A Walkman and smart-phone combo). As soon as the phone was released, I bought it on play.com for 399 quid.
When I got the package, I was excited. The phone looked beautiful! I was pleased.
Alas, it all came crashing down once I began using it. The interface is too slow. Sending a text message is a pain. Music sounds fine but the Walkman player is a pain. Tries to be too smart and makes simple tasks too complicated. You can't enjoy a good music experience without having to fiddle around all the time.
On the other hand, my W810i was really good. Fast access to my music, minimal controls and good music quality.
The W960i is not for geeks like me. It's too slow. Even opening a newly arrived text message drives you nuts.
The camera is good enough but is hampered by a slow interface.
In short, it's got some serious hardware but the software just can't keep up and makes the phone really irritating to use.
The only good points I can think of is the 8GB memory and sleek looks. Other than that, I'd say, "Stay away from this phone"
Very smart smartphone

This is the first smartphone i have ever had, i have played about with a few other sony ericsson smartphones but never used one that looks and is a eye catcher.
You get touch screen and keypad unlike to touch only with iphone. You can text with keypad, stick like iphone or write it out on the screen word by word which i found hard :( .
Can run multiple applications at once without any slowdowns like a pc or mac.
Good graphics for games etc.
8GB built-in flash drive for loads of images, videos and music files, very useful when you want to go for a jog and have your phone for example.
I thought £400 was pritty steep but worth the price for the what the phones give you.
Would recommend to anyone.
A+
best phone i've had yet

Had this a few days now, and it's a great all rounder.
Have been pretty impressed with the touch screen. Its very sensitive, and works ok with a finger on the bigger icons, and there is a stylus for more accuracy.
There is also a scroll wheel on the side, which is clickable, for scroling down menus which negates the need to get the stylus out all the time.
I've found the phone great for texting - you can select a keyboard which appears on the touch screen and just press the keys. With predictive text switched on as well, it will display 5 words which dynamically change as you type the letters in and you can just press on the word to save typing it all - works out a lot quicker.
I don't think the handwriting regonition is that useful as you have to write the letters in a very specific way, and its a bit of a gimmick.
The walkman software seems pretty good now, and the sound quality is great - the FM radio quality is fantastic too, and the headphones seem pretty good quality. There is a massive 8GB of memory to store data in.
Camera is pretty good and videos are in a good resolution and pretty good quality.
There is some basic 'office' style software, and the usual other apps. Games include a decent golf game and a tetris style gane that is pretty average. There is not a lot to download in the way of games at present.
Only downside i have found is that the file management is not very intuitive.
Would definitely recommend the phone - its not too chunky either, certainly seems much less bulky than the viewty.
As I said, a good all rounder, just misses out on 5 stars.
Fantastic

I bought this phone, thinking I might of wasted my money. But no! Once I received it, put music on it, and had a little play around with it, I practically fell in love with it.
Although it looks huge and feels large, in comparison to my old phone "k800i" it is the same height, thinner just wider.
The touch screen is great, aswell as the quality and volume that comes from the speaker.
Overall this phone deserves its five star rating.
Now This is what I call a Phone...

I've had this phone for 3 hours and for the last 3 hours my flat mates haveheard nothing but me raving on about it so i've come on here to give their eas a rest. Start with appearance, and for me it goes past the phone's looks, i look at the design, packaging and interface and all of them are amazing. Straight out the box, you stick in your sim car and battery and away you go. The user interface is a fantasic update over the old system, changing from the 12 icon menu to 9, but now there are many more menu's to get through. It's not to heavy, or bulky although it looks it and the touch screen does work. and it works really well too. ver precise up to the last corner. And everything on it is adjustable so you can have it set just how YOU have always wanted you phone. the software is a dream to set up, and after a few hours play i'm already getting used to it. TrackID is genius telling you the song title, artist and even the CD it came from! Video calling (the iphone doesn't do) and 8gb internal memory (same as the iphone, but the iphone uses more for the software inside). Whats lacking. Well the screen doesn't turn as you tilt the phone and its not tatally touch screen, but that means you can still text as usual and if the screen packs up (whih it won't) you can still call your operator and moan. For all this technology, its well priced. I adore trhis phone in case you can't tell, but if you still can't decide, get down to a phone shop, play with it and order it! everything, and i mean everything is better than i expected. the camera, although only 3.2 mp looks better than a lot of 5 mp phones, sound is loud and clear, simple to use, good screen quality and WiFi. its simply fantastic. and you don't have to worry about being only on 02. Sim free - LOVE IT!
Great

this is an amazing phone
alough its a bit pricey at the
moment its worth every penny
it is a bit chunky but you can tell why
when its got touch screen , 8GB memory, walkman...
This phone is one of the best phone/mp3 around! Why?
Well first of all the main feature of the phone which is the Walkman is amazing, it is now in the 3rd generation and it looks and handles amazing, with fast transfer speed it only takes 2 minutes to upload 1Gb of music on the phone and whith 8Gb of onboard memory its fantastic!
While the camera doesnt boast a 5mp camera like other phones it can still out perform some 5mg thanks to sony's camera expertise which makes 3.2mp good enough!
The touch screen control is also a great feature in the phone which will get alot of great remarks from people, but if you are a keen txter then you have the standard keypad to txt faster. It's also a 3G phone which lets you download music on the go at fast download speeds.
The build quality allthough many reviews say that it feels cheap, i have to be honest IT DOESN'T and feels sturdy enough to drop on the floor with out any damage to the phone.
The only thing I don't like about the phone is there is no d-pad just a jog dial (a little scroller on the side) however you wont really use it because of the touch screen.
5/5 10/10 100/100
