After being slightly disappointed with the 3rd and 4th albums I was slightly worried about this one but i've gladly been proved wrong. In my opinion this is the greatest album I have ever listened to, it's pure genius, thanks Mike!
This album is strong from start to finish. I'm just glad it's on a par with the first two albums which showcased mike at his best, it's just a shame that that's it, no more witty lyrics from the unrivaled mr skinner there really is nothing like it in the industry. You will be missed but thanks for another stirling effort!
Fantastic send off for Mike Skinner.
The last album was very down to earth and had that feeling of the last album. It was one of my favourites from Skinner.
To me EIB was the album where he was settling down saying enough is enough. Computers & Blues is him going back to his roots and ending on a good note. The last song Lock The Locks sums this album up in one.
Full of energy like the first instalment from The Streets, this could even be placed before A Grand Dont Come For Free after Original Pirate Material.
Amazing last effort from the Streets and a great way to end!
Far better than the previous effort and well worth a purchase...
I've been a huge fan of Mike Skinner's ever since his debut album Original Pirate Material revolutionised music back in 2002. A Grand Don't Come For Free was a fantastic follow up, while The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living was a little disappointing and Everything Is Borrowed was half breathtaking and half average. So whilst I was excited about this fifth and final album, I did approach it with some trepidation. However, having become hopelessly addicted to Computers and Blues, I can happily confirm my fears have been completely dismissed. Each and every track is nothing short of amazing. Cynics will disagree but this surpassess Original Pirate Material and is in my opinion his finest work ever. The production is amazing and Skinner's lyrics are bang on the money throughout - even when rhyming brain with Wayne! If you are a lower middle class to working class British male aged 25-30 you need this album, fact. It's as simple as that. Skinner writes about real issues that we can all relate to and on this, as on some of his past albums, he shows he is the greatest lyricist of his generation. There has never been a more genuine songwriter. It's just a shame that this is the last album, music will be a lot worse off without him. Thank you Mike and see you at Brixton Academy on 5th March.
