CD
- Midlake's second album The Trials of Van Occupanther is an album you cannot live without. Adored by celeb fans like Radiohead, Beck, Flaming Lips, Belle and Sebastian and Paul Weller, cherised by DJ's like Zane Lowe, Mark Radcliffe and Edith Bowman, Midlake could well be the most important discovery of this year. Standout tracks: Roscoe, Head Home, Young Bride, We Gathered In Spring.

If you give this CD a few listens it will reward. Full of songs that get under your skin and stay there. I wake up most mornings with a song off this CD stuck in my head, always a nice way to start the day.
Fabulous album great summer tunes!

I have to say this is the best album I have happened to stumble upon this summer. Seeing them live confirmed to how good this band is. They have a slight Crosby, Stills and Nash feel to them. Buy it you won't regret it!!!!
Turgid, derivative nonesense

I really can't understand the raves that album is getting; yes, I like the title but the music - no thanks!
It plods along (melodically enough I guess) like the blandest of ealry 70's rock; imagine Neil Young without the wit, the intelligence, the distinctive voice and any reason to make a record, and you'll just about get it.
However, so far as a recommendation goes, don't get it. There's lots more here that are better uses of your money.
As to all of the celebrity fans; find something better to promote guys!
