Maybe its just me but i loved this album and the songs on it, but some of the album was rather dissapointing at first and for the first time i felt like changing the song before it ended (that doesnt usually happen on a muse CD)... but then they grew on me after a while so good album but a little different from the old muse i think...

Muse are a really good band, i enjoy each and everyone of their songs. On this album they do have many good songs, but a few do let them down and dont live up to the Muse reputation, but an all round good CD, well done :-)

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars Listen to it again

When i first got this album i never really new what Muse were like, and for a while it just stayed on my shelf ollecting dust, but once i listened to it, OW MY GOD!! what a good album, ok maybe it isnt there best album and there are arnt as many solo's from Matthew Bellamy but it is still worth £4.99. i would recomened this album to anyone who likes rock with a more modern feel.

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars Very good but not what we expect from Muse

I find this album slightly dissapointing, in that to Muse fans it just isn't as good as their first three albums. Although this has turned them into complete superstars and allowed them to headline Wembley twice in a row, Matt Bellamy seems to relie more on strange effects rather then a classic riff. No riff from this album even comes close to Plug in Baby or Hysteria etc. However, the album starts with a bang, and a big one at that, the first 4 songs are fantastic, Supermassive Black Hole is different in every way and it's brilliant. However, the album gets progresively worse as it goes on, the songs get slower and the riffs get worse, though exo-politics and assassin are fast and brilliant. Muse, however end with one of their best songs ever, Knights of Cydonia, which certainly makes this album alot better. Muse fans should still buy it, but for someone who hasn't listened to muse id advice Absolution of Origin of Symmetry

The sinister sounding opener 'Take a Bow' starts off as if floating in space and then morphes into a dance/trance type sound, and slows to a punkier space rant as Bellamy shouts how we're going to 'burn in hell'. It could be seen as a political statement towards the Bush Administration, but if you don't care about what the lyrics mean then just bask in the over-the-top space rock sound you know and love, or will do if you haven't heard them before.
'Starlight' follows with a more straightforward but uplifting song with a more accessible piano melody and gentle lyrics, followed by the dark, dancey 'Supermassive Black Hole' with it's 80's robotic sound.
Then there's the relentless 'Map of the Problematique' with it's 'Depeche Mode'-esque sound and drums alternating frequently in rythm keeping up the excitement in the sound.
The barbershop quartet (minus one) sounding 'Soldier's Poem' is short and relaxing, ending on a poignant note and leads onto 'Invincible', which is an epic feel-good anthem with a brilliant guitar solo near the end.
'Assassin' is a more straight-laced rock song that provides a raw edge compared to the others. Followed by 'Exo-Politics' with it's rousing chorus that you have to sing along to.
'City of Delusion' is a very latin, exotic sounding song with a strangely similar yet brilliant moment in the middle where it all goes a bit tense with a dramatic build-up, reminding me of the bit towards the end of 'No One Knows' by 'Queens of the Stone Age'. It's followed by 'Hoodoo' which is a lot more quiet and simplistic which makes the final song even more stunning.
'Knights of Cydonia' is a completely bombastic, off the wall, insanely brilliant piece of rock even by Muse's standards, and is the defining song on the album and one of the best songs of modern times, if not of all time it's THAT incredible.
Sorry for lenghty review, but this album is very accessible and a brilliant way to get aquainted with Muse.

Absolutely another great album. I really pretty much like all songs on this. I have a feeling that Muse just gets better by the time, but still I won't rank their albums. I think IT'S A CRIME to rank the other album above other, because all albums of Muse are master pieces and they all have to offer something what the others do not. Muse is my favourite band, and actually only band in many many years, which I can say that I'm fan of. And that's quite a lot from a band, to impress me that much.

Customer rating: 3 out of 5 stars deffinately not their best

when i first heard this album i thought it was good all round but after giving it a proper listen im quite frankly shocked that anyone can call this album brilliant after hearing earlier muse albums
showbiz, origin of the symatry and absolution are al magnificent albums and there was just somthing lacking in this album
i think starlight and supermassive black hole are both great but this album just seemed a bit too pop adapted
the songs lack the excitement from old masterpeices like microcuts, citizen erased, time is running out, butterflies and hurricanes etc.
i think this would be a good album for most bands to release but muse have set the bar high and have failed to jump it with this album for me

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars top album
