Put simply, this is one of the best metal albums ever recorded. Majestic, dark and intricate, full of brilliant guitar riffs and sharp, detailed production. This is a masterpiece of metal, You need this album, do yourself a favor and buy this alongside Blackwater Park, these albums really do approach perfection.

Deliverance is one of those metal albums that require attention to detail and patience. I can't really abide 'metal heads' that cannot appreciate or concentrate on the kind of lengthy, rich and snaking compositions that Opeth construct so intricately. The singing, like the music, ranges from light to dark and is beathtaking in its complexity but you do need a little intelligence to fully appreciate its complexities. A 5 star album in any genre, from these masters of progressive metal, an exciting, dark and sophisticated album, for the true metal fan only. Deliverance is brilliant.
