CD
- From São Paulo, Brazil comes CSS, the first South American band Sub Pop has foisted upon the global marketplace. Cansei de Ser Sexy, Portuguese for "Tired of Being Sexy," is improbably, unbelievably and nearly eponymously their debut. It is a thick, pulsating thing full of haphazard synths ("Alala") and a come-on of call and response that tears down any attempt at posturing ("Art Bitch," "Patins"). It is equal parts rock mantra and throwback into something new, transcending boundaries of genre and geography. It careers full speed into dance territory, into the unknown and untouched, to emerge all hot and bothered with wild electro-rock.

What can I say? A wonderful album from a band that enjoy making excellent music. We really do get the impression from this album that music is these people's lives. And that is indeed comforting.
It's one of those rare albums that actually make me want to dance like a loony. It's just fun. Is that a good enough review of an album? Fun? Cause that's really what I want to say right now.
The highlights are easily Let's Make Love, Music is my Hot Hot Sex, and Artbitch. But the rest of the album is never too far behind these great tracks.
Lovingly made with unashamedly retro electro sounds, this album is going to be a party favourite of mine until... probably forever, actually.
