Long regarded as one of the brightest and most exciting prospects to come out of Australian music for years, Melbourne four-piece The Temper Trap finally release their debut album. Recorded in both Australia and London, Conditions is a rousing first release.

The album's first track, 'Love Lost', introduces the often-happy sound of The Temper Trap, opening with the supremely optimistic line, "Our Love was lost, but now we've found it". The soft dance ear candy of 'Sweet Disposition' is swiftly followed by the note-perfect harmonisation of 'Down River'. Dominated by fuzzy bass and a turbo-charged guitar riff, 'Fader' is a full-on rock number, up-tempo, punchy and an inspired song to follow the beautiful, sensitive ballad 'Soldier On'. There is no question that producer Jim Abbiss (famed for his work with British bands Arctic Monkeys and Adele) has worked hard on this release, with a plethora of electro noises and polished, atmospheric orchestration throughout, particularly evident in the epic euphoria of 'Science Of Fear'. Synth-led and demonstrating frontman Dougy Mandagi's falsetto vocals perfectly, it's easy to see why 'Science Of Fear' was chosen as a single. With the thumping floor-toms and scattered percussion fighting with a tidy guitar hook, the aptly titled 'Drum Song' concludes the album in a storming finale.

The Temper Trap write songs that are seemingly constructed to become stadium rock anthems and, with Jim Abbiss at the mixing desk, they have created an album worthy of gracing such arenas. However, for all its rock ethics, Conditions is very much a pop record. In combining their uncanny knack of creating hugely catchy melodies over innovative riffs, The Temper Trap have recorded a superb debut album that is likely to see them swiftly become chart superstars.

I saw these guys at Glastonbury this year and they rocked.
I managed to get a copy of their album and was totally blown away,
the mix of melodies and the song writing is second to none and the lead singer has great vocals. if you only ever listen to one of their songs listen to LOVE LOST. this is truly a super summer album to play loud in the car with the windows down.

I heard the song Sweet Disposition on the Sky Sports HD 'Special' Advert and thought it was the best song i'd heard in a while. I had to have the rest, so bought the album and thought it was a great mix of songs, with great use of songwriting. Great band, and great music!
