I bought this ages ago and only got round to reviewing it after reading all the bad comments because they're not true! This is a great cd... best one i heard in a long time. Beth Ditto has an amazing voice and the band keep the indie sound mixed with a funky up beat style. I love the way she uses her voice. Some slower songs and some great ones like Yr Mangled Heart and Keeping You Alive are the funkier ones. All songs on the album are great and i can't wait for their next album... il preorder it straight away!

For all those who are sick and tired of the likes of Aguilera, Maria Carey and more recently Leona Lewis who poison our ears with their warbling monotony, then this is a must...... their image is naff, the album cover is naff and the whole CD sounds like it's live and badly produced.... BRILLIANT! This album is raw, exciting and fresh. The overall sound is somewhat reminiscent of the White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand with a definite Souxsie and the Banshees'esque influence, but with the unique crisp wrasping voice of Beth Ditto adding soul and depth to a simple beat background, you can't help but love each and every catchy track on the CD and somehow cannot compare it to other more successful bands. Give this album a try - for the price, it will be money well spent.

I bought it because of Listen Up & Standing In The Way of Control, which are brill tracks, but some of the other songs are just as good.
Not sure I'll buy another album though, have to wait & see.
