High Hopes

I am writing this as a Pharoahe Monch fan of many years. I have been awaiting this album with extremely high hopes that Monch would deliver everything i was expecting and more...yet, no. Although i do question if my hopes were soo high that they would never be reachable, realistically?
The albums hits well on a commercial level with the first single "body baby" and the soulful "push". Monch has such a unique dominant voice paired with a great flow of lyrics and impecable intelligent word play.
Production was very good on this album, it was particularly nice to see Monch pairing up with D Porter on "when the gun draws" and "trilogy".
Alot of the tracks are quite soulful which is maybe something i didnt really expect from this album as i am used to the hitting "simon says" or "f@!k you"and his appearances elsewhere on tracks such as "guerilla monsoon rap", or the excelnnet "oh no".
I genuinely do not have nothing negative to say about the album, it just never reached the heights of my expectations, which i believe any other long standing Monch fans would probably agree with me.

The return of real hip hop! If you love hip hop you have got to have this album. Great beats and lyrics that mean something! You must have this in you're collection, I've seen him live, one of the most lyrically talented people out there on par with Nas, Talib Kweli, Common and Jay Z. BUY!
