I've heard all 14 tracks.
If you want songs like Nightrain, Used To Love Her, Sweet Child O Mine and Paradise City you've more chance with the next Velvet Revolver album. This is album is the son of Estranged, You Could Be Mine, Welcome To The Jungle, Back Off Bitch and November Rain. To be honest it's exactly what I wanted. I'd like more technology in there and I think that'll be the next step (the next album is not 10 years away!). This isn't a million miles away from the best of the poetic/composed/angry/bitter/misogynistic and occasionally rocking Original Guns. But the idea of it just being rock and roll fun is nowhere to be seen. And I like that in my 45 year old rock star.
Welcome To The Jungle was Axl and the boys youth on the dirtier side of Tinsel Town. This is Welcome To My Nightmare. You will not miss the musicianship of the original members (the guitar here is outstanding stuff), but you might miss their personalities. This is all about the sentimentally aggrivated side of W. Axl Rose and there is no room for sitting back and laughing about it. Broody, epic and angry.
8/10
Don't listen to the negative reviews on this album. Of course it aint classic gnr.........axl's the only original member left!!!!!....duh!
It's true, the gnr sound has moved on to something that isn't instantly appealing to all, but that can arguably be put down to the anticipation of an album that's 17 years in the making. I don't catre who you are........you're never gonna deliver to peoples expectations after taking that amount of time to complete an album.
The songs are varied (musically) and what i can guarantee is that they will grow on you if you don't like what you hear the first time round. But make your own mind up.
I have heard a number of the tracks and the whilst there is a deep sense of nostalgia - these tracks rule on any level.......
The musical genius that is Mr W. Axl Rose is back with a bang!
There is doubt that Rose ran the original line up. His ongoing search for musical perfection ultimately saw an end to the band as we new it, paving the way for a 10 year + journey that will unfold on the 23/11/08.
This isn't the Guns' of "Appetite" - a record that was fun but lacked the depth of some of the "Illusion" songs. This a record for now. A new look band and new look sound.
This is no longer a standing joke in the rock industry - This is real and well worth the wait. 2 more albums are scheduled for release before 2012.
This album is utter rubbish just one terrible song after another. It sounds like the worst type of manufactured crud axl has lost his band his mind his voice and his ability to create great hard rock.
Ok i have this after reading reviews from others on here. Ive given it a good few listenings like a lot have said you should do and my opinion is this -
Basically its just an Axl Rose solo album with a load of session musicians playing on it , He owns the Guns and Roses name so he will use it but believe me 1 man Axl doesnt make it GnR.
Dont waste your money on this album.
