I bought their first album and must say throughly enjoyed it. A mate of mine reminded me that this album had been released and i didn't hesitate to buy it.... You would'nt beleive it though - i've never really managed to listen to all the tracks and their lyrics but whilst working hard , i played only this album and all the songs are top notch - not just the well known ones and singles... My newly discovered favourites being Tonight, The King , Little Angel.. In all honestly they are all quality tracks , on a quality album , by one of the best bands in this day and age!!! Bring on the next album Rich!!

I was unsure about purchasing this album after hearing it wouldn't live up to Hard-Fi's fantastic debut. But in fact, I think I prefer Once Upon a Time in the West! There are some incredibly good songs that are instantly catchy and many are worthy of being singles. My personal favourites are I Shall Overcome and Television. If you enjoyed Stars of CCTV, give this one a go.

Not a patch on their debut but still contains a few great tunes, notably Suburban Knights, Television and Can't get Along. Thats not to say the rest is bad. Its all decent but lacks the power and hooks of CCTV.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars totally amazin!

i love the weird singing style of Richard Archer. This album is fantastic, up there with the pigeon detectives, editors and the wombats for best british release of 2007. They have such a great style here, a real mature sound. BUY THIS!

Customer rating: 2 out of 5 stars poor follow-up

bleedingpepper | 01/02/2008 | See all bleedingpepper's reviews (68) »

while Stars Of CCTV was excellent (despite a few stinker tracks) this follow-up is full of stinkers! Television is a disgustingly overblown song that slips down the slippery slope marked 'dodgy American Evangelical choir group' with the cringe worthy 'Hallelujah!'s. shame because the first 50-odd seconds of it actually misleads you into thinking it will be a great song. the likes of We Need Love, Watch Me Fall Apart, Cant Get Along (Without You) are all pomp with precious little substance and are instantly forgettable.

there are a few saving graces on the album though. Suburban Knights is an excellent ska-tinged rocker. it may demean itself with its football terrace chant 'hey-ay-ay's, but is nonetheless catchy as hell. I Shall Overcome is anoter highlight, although it doesnt compare to alot of what was on this albums' predecessor while two of the albums' mellower moments Tonight and Help Me Please (which was originally on the 2005 Help/Warchild compilation anyway) are moving, tender masterpieces.

Richard Archer's never been blessed with a good voice, but on Stas Of CCTV there were lots of top songs to mask it with. with this follow-up, it really shows as most of the songs are well below par.

I bought a lot of CD's in 2007 and for me this is the very best. Kaiser Chiefs were very close and debut releases from The Enemy, The Twang and The Pigeon Detectives were up there but Richard Archer and co have come through with flying colours. It's such a versatile album and anyone who doesn't like it needs there ears testing. "Surburban Knights" which was the first single set the bench mark that this would be as good as the first and after buying it and hearing the song "Can't Get Along (Without You) I honestly thought I was dreaming, I mean how do they do it. It doesn't stop there though "Television" is a world class in your face track and it also features a few slow nicer songs such as "The King" and the lovely "Help Me Please". I saw them live in December and there just as good, it's just a shame we'll have to wait a while for the next one, but truely something special I wish I had Richard Archer's ability.

Much better than there debut album. Standout tracks are 2nd single, cant get along, the king, and i shall overcome. Hard fi are becoming one of the best UK bands in years.
