- "IV" features the classic heavy guitar thunder, pop sensibility, and soul-wrenching lyrics of previous Veruca Salt efforts, coupled with the stirring musical maturation of Louise Post and Co. Songs written and performed live to worldwide acclaim over the past six years (such as "Blissful Queen," "Save You," and "The Sun") have been combined with powerful new material, and the resulting effort promises to be the greatest Veruca Salt album to date.

While 2000's "Resolver" was a bit of a one-woman show (Which was fine, seeing as Louise Post is endlessly talented), "IV" finds Post really uniting with a band for the first time since the first line-ups split. Guitarist Stephen Fitzpatrick gets his fair share of writing credits and- along with drummer Kelli Scott and bassist/back-up vocalist Nicole Fiorentino- even manages to leave a mark on the songs penned by Post alone.
If "Resolver" left you a bit rock-hungry, then give this a spin. The first four tracks batter you with crunchy guitars and euphoric vocals- in other words, classic Veruca Salt.
Softer songs such as "Perfect Love", "Comes and Goes" and "Salt Flat Epic" mix it up a bit, but the brilliant rock-out anthem "Damage Done" shows that not an awful lot has changed with Veruca Salts musical style.
