As a rock fan for more than thirty five years I am somewhat difficult to impress these days. Much pomp and hype surrounds so MANY bands yet their music is entirely derivative upon listening. I loved Mutter from Rammstein, but much else was kind of samey * shrugs*. Bought this one cos my kids are fans really, but I was genuinely caught breathless by the vicious assault of Rammlied and Ich tu dir weh. Brutal power, swaggering aggression yet at its heart real melody and killer riffs. The best one-two punch to start an album since the Black Album IMO.
After those magnificent songs, the rest of the album is less immediate, "pussy" being like an Industrial Steel Panther, and the Marlene Deitrich homage unnecessarily kitch.
All is restored though by B******** and its vicious industrial riffage, yet again with light and shade, and melody.
Yes there is much here that could have been on any previous albums, but enough to show Rammstein as a genuine innovators in a tired genre. Highly recommended album !
