Yeah, so The Wildhearts still have it :D

The Wildhearts have always been strong, but Chutzpah! seems to shift them slightly. CJ and Danny have got some vocal duties - which they perform stunningly, I might add. The album seems more overdriven and a little punkier than previous offerings but still as ballsy and bouncy as you'd expect from The Wildhearts.
ALMOST as good as Earth Vs. ;)

 Awesome

They've done it again, in my eyes one of the best albums the wildhearts have ever produced!!! It's a little softer than previous work, but more similar to their early style. Thoroughly recommend!!!

If you like music, get this album - don't care how you do it, but get it

I want to say more but I'd be talking rubbish - just listen to it you will not regret it

 Shared vocal fears unfounded.

I was a little concerned over the fact that vocals were to be shared on this release but the album never sounds anything other than the best Wildhearts albums since Earth vs.

 Distincly Wildhearts

Another fabulous set of tracks from one of Britain's most hardworking, under-rated rock bands of all time....Typical wildhearts from the opening Jackson Whites - big guitar riffs and constant key changes that get the crowd going. The suitable toned down song of "you took the sunshine from new york" don't last long but could easily be played on any radio station (if they had guts!). Like the homage to Tim Smith from the Cardiacs...well done lads! certainly not a disappointment. How many bands could claim that on their 8,9th or 10th studio album?

 A great wildhearts CD

The Wildhearts are one of Britain's great underground rock exports. Having been ripping up the British rock scene since the early 90's and having produced more classic albums than virtually anyone in that time, expectations are running high for this latest release.

Entitled Chutzpah! this record still showcases their trademark hooks coupled with soaring choruses but a standard retread of what's gone before this is not.

It seems the addition of former Amen bassist Scott Sorry has broadened their horizons and, coupled with the success of 2005's self-titled effort, this has allowed them to explore a little away from the norm.

Whilst it still contains a few tracks that fit the stereotypical Wildhearts sound, particularly album opener "The Jackson Whites" and "You Are Proof That Not All Women Are Insane", others differ adopting a wide range of styles, whilst still being unmistakably The Wildhearts.

It is to their credit that this mix of styles still flows well throughout the album. Who can forget the atrocity on the ears that was "Endless, Nameless" which might have represented a previous attempt to experiment?

Relative sobriety suits The Wildhearts, this record rocks, especially after a couple of listens to allow your ears to adjust.

The upcoming tour is going to be a lot of fun, and you can see anthems of old sitting happily alongside tracks from this great new LP.

 Rock solid at last

The best kept secret in the world of rock, the good old Wildhearts have another new album.
The last album was a cover album the "Stop Us if You Heard This One Before" from last year boasted songs that each band member was a fan of. The band recorded with a far more loose feel resulting in a real mix n match choice of music. The band also swapped singers and it really made some songs stand out.
Move on a year and this idea has been taken into the studio with new songs, again the band swap roles with singing duty given a real shake up. Ginger for once gets a rest.
The album clocks in just over 33 minutes a perfect punk album. But this really does boast the big chunky riffs and melodic sing along feel The Wildhearts are known for.
A perfect album to put on after the cover album and it is a great follow up to the last new album from two years ago.
Bass player Scott has put his hand up and can deliver some nice bass and fresh vocals that makes the rest of the album just feel a little bit different from the others not that the Wildhearts ever do the same album twice.
The production as ever is spot on, never getting too muddy or even too loud.
Some songs need to be heard to be believed like title track Chutzpah! a real skull crush of a song that finds you looking to see if you have jumped to another artist due to it twisting and turning so much. 'Jackson Whites' the opening track is a classic album opener needing to be played live just to see if it is as good live.
I have to say not a bad track and plenty of replay in this one.
File this one under the 'not sure what to play? play this' section.

 Spectacular Release!

The most stable and creative line-up of the band ever, pushing themselves further and harder than they ever have before, new label, professional production values, equal input from all four members of the band...this is the most ambitious and creative release since, well, Earth Vs.

Every song is exciting, every idea (and they still pack more into one song than some bands will manage in an entire career) is beautfully arranged and presented, this should be the album which finally puts The Wildhearts where they belong - as the shining light of the UK rock scene.

Every Wildhearts album is an event, but this is the most excited I have been about a release since...ever! If you know anything about great music, you will buy this album, listen to it as albums should be - in one sitting with the lights off and ears turned to maximum fastness - and if you are not wildly jumping about the room within a minute of the opening track, then quite simply you have no taste.

Download, thoroughly enjoy, get a ticket to the upcoming Sept-Nov tour, and welcome to the first amazing chapter of the rest of your (and their) lives!
