From Start to finish this album is magnificent.
One of my favourite albums of the 90's but then again most of the music i listen to is from the 90's.
In reference to Giggsy's comment about Mudhoney starting the scene, I wouldn't be so sure, as the Mudhoney singer was originally in a band called Green River and later fromed Mudhoney.
Also bands like Dinosaur Jr. were around in 85, but that really doesn't matter, excellent album and yes, they shouldn't be compared to Nirvana.
One of the finest albums ever for £3? You can't go wrong!

I got this album when it was £5 and I thought THAT was a bargain. This however is something else entirely. If you haven't heard this album then you can't call yourself a rock fan. Absolutely perfect from start to finish, and for £3, you can't go wrong!
Also, Pearl Jam are miles better than Nirvana. No contest.
LANDMARK ALBUM BUT NO COMPARISON TO NIRVANA

I cant believe the reviewer on here comparing Pearl Jam to Nirvana. Pearl Jam are a GREAT rock band but are no Nirvana!!! Their music could not be anymore different. Forget the term grunge. If you knew anything about these bands they all detested being pigeon holed under a stupid meaningless scene name. The only thing they had in common is they were from Seattle!! Also Pearl Jam were not responsilble for the birth of the scene, it was Mudhoney. Kurt Cobain wrote songs with soul which will still be listened to by kids in 100 years along with the beatles etc etc They are a landmark band. Ten is an absolute stonker of an album I would recommend it to anyone, also Vitology is another of their great albums But PLEASE will everyone stop comparing them to Nirvana, there is no comparison!!!!!!
Amazing album.

This album shocked me as i have never been a fan of grunge. It's a brilliant album with great solos, lyrics & vocals.I really dont like smahing pumpkins or sonic youth and i'm not a massive fan of nirvana but Pearl Jam are amazing. Every song on this album is brilliant. This is a must have for rock fans for €4 it's a bargain.
What do you want? Jam on it!

3 quid for this excellent album?!
I can finally commit my tape cassette version to the annals of history - farewell old friend.
If you haven't already heard this album, then you ain't lived - forget Nirvana this is the REAL birth of grunge music. 1992 rock at its finest - and you even get 3 decent bonus tracks to boot!
For 3 quid its a steal - 5 stars for sure!
sadly, Nirvana will always be classed as the band who invented Grunge. now, that's not a bad thing. i'm a huuuuge Nirvana fan, i just think Pearl Jam are slightly better. this is one of the albums that will probably make you feel the same way. it's one of those albums that you can jump around to, sing along to, air-guitar to, headbang along to...it's just superb. the best part of the album is a huge upbeat guitar-fest. strangely enough, though, some of the subject matter dealt with isn't too happy. however, there is one more sad song, "Black", which is, in my opinion, the best song on the album, and one of my favourites by Pearl Jam. anyway, this album is a must for people who like traditional rock music.

The first offering from Eddie and the boys and the best, even now it still sounds as good as it did. From the well known tracks Once, even flow to the lesser known gems on this platter why go, garden etc it is well worth a punt.
Epic.

One of the greatest and most influencual albums of rock history. Songs such as Alive, Once, Release, will always be classics. In my humble opinion this album is only matched within grunge by Nirvana's NeverMind, and even then it's a tough call. A definite necessity for your collection.
CLASSIC!
