If, like me, you've wondered recently why you can't seriously rock out to a band and still hear a bloody good tune you can whistle the next morning, then Ryker Sear is the band you've been waiting for. Everything here has a strong melody over rocky backing with plenty of riffs and hooks to get stuck into. There's a good deal of variance, too, from quite hard rock to a couple of more chilled-out songs. Poppy enough for the charts, but with genuine rock roots. Favourites are 'You'd do Anything' which has a great chorus, driving melody and a piledriving guitar solo and 'Train at Midnight' which starts powerfully and gets better from there!
