  Love Disc 1 & 2

Disc 1 and Disc 2 have some great songs from the golden age of 80s music, but although there are some good songs on disc 3 they are not all of the electronic genre and I struggle to understand why some of them have been included with this set.

  Awsome 80's

Listening to this makes you want to be a teen in the 80's (If you wasn't already!)
My favourites have to be Soft Cell, Yazoo, OMD, Human League and M - Pop Musik!
If you've played Grand Theft Auto vice city or your a big fan of New Wave then this is the CD for you :)

I turned 8 years old in january 1980, the first piece of vynyl i bought was o.m.d's maid of orleans, that set me on the path to loving various genre's of electronic music, still loving it, today, thankfully it's on here. I'm well placed to give an educated opinion of this album, it is brilliant, it's been said one or two tracks are by bands that weren't electronica, not true, synths were very evident on tracks by all the artists on this album, only small request to ministry of sound for the inevitable (i hope) second album is, please put depeche mode and frankie goes to hollywood on there, and pleeeaaaase get a dj to mix it together, getting felix da housecat, tiga or the mighty carl cox to mix up an 80's electronic album would be masterful. If you grew up in the 80's, or are a genuine music fan of any age, you're gonna love this.

  Good but flawed

| | See all DazzaF's reviews (72)

A great selection of 80s music but it is flawed on two grounds. First, not all the bands on this compilation were considered electronic (ie Blondie, Duran Duran, Kim Wilde, Simple Minds, Johnny Hates Jazz). These were general pop and only had a synth as one of the instruments (and not a major player). Secondly, there two bands/artists that were very big in the sytnh world of the 80s that are missing from this compilation. Where are Depeche Mode and Howard Jones? For these reasons, I can only give this compilation 3 stars. If Howard and DP were on it, an instant 5 stars would have been given.
