Play.com Review
Since she burst onto the scene last year with her electric, pop-perfect singles, New York starlet Lady Gaga (aka Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta) has become a worldwide sensation. Combining influences ranging from Michael Jackson to David Bowie, whilst developing her own unique voice, Gaga has quickly stormed the charts worldwide. Her remarkable debut long-player, 'The Fame', has now been expanded with the forthcoming release of The Fame Monster, which includes the original Platinum-selling album alongside eight brand new tracks.
Lead single 'Bad Romance' kicks of the first disc in vibrant fashion, an anti-love song of epic proportions dominated by driven beats and the acid wit of a songwriter firing on all cylinders. Things show no sign of slowing down with the hook-led 'Alejandro', and the sublime, if often eccentric pop of 'Monster', but it's the stunning 'Speechless' where Gaga's genius is truly confirmed. A heartfelt and soulful recording, the subject of her father's heart condition results in a mesmerising four and a half minutes, in which Gaga's vulnerable side is on display for the first time. The catchy 'Dance In The Dark' raises the album's tempo once again, whilst R&B superstar Beyonce guests on the compelling, electric pop magic of 'Telephone'. Disc 1 concludes with another genre change, this time with the bluesy 'Teeth'- a stomping finale and a perfect vehicle for the artists' exquisite vocal talents. Despite her lofty status as one of the brightest stars in the world today, The Fame Monster offers clear evidence that Lady Gaga is continually striving to entertain and excite her dedicated audience. Featuring 8 new tracks bursting with ideas alongside the single-packed original release, you'd be forgiven if you thought you were listening to a greatest hits album. Instead, The Fame Monster is further confirmation that Lady Gaga is arguably the most innovative pop songwriter to emerge in recent years.

Deserves no less han 5 stars. What a truly amazing artist Lady Gaga is and the The Fame Monster is the best album I've bought ever.
There isn't a song you wont like on the original release of "The Fame" and now this re-issue boasts even more perfect tunes. Best tracks on the first disc are 1. Dance In The Dark; 2. Monster; 3. Bad Romance; 4. Telephone(ft.Beyonce) and 5. Alejandro..... the other 3 tracks are pretty good as well.
I seen her live at the 02 and she was phenominal. She puts everything you could possibly put into a live show any artist could. She's so passionate about making good music and praise her for giving us the best Pop/R&B songs of the last two years. All hail Lady GaGa.
As others have said a wonderful album.
However.... Why are two songs on "Monster" censored? It really spoils Bad Romance & Dance in the Dark both of which are amongst the best on the album. What exactly is a "free bit?"
Despite all the complaints and the record company promising to release it uneditied - sadly to date this has not happened.
The rating should have been much lower because of the edits but it is such a great record that I couldn't bring myself to rate it lower than a 4.
Even though its only 8 tracks long, it does come with the added bonus of giving you the previous album in the box as a 2CD set, but that wasnt really a bonus because i already had the Fame! I had heard "Bad Romance" prior to getting this album, so seeing it as the first track really got me raring to go when listening to her new material, and with songs like "Poker Face", "Star Struck" and "I like it Rough" to follow up from she had set the bar high as far as im concerned, and she managed to do one better, match it and then beat it. "Alejandro" is a great follower, very catchy and different, but really worked. To be honest i loved all the tracks, with the weakest imo being "Speechless" and my favourite being "So happy i could die". SImply put, if you liked "The Fame" you will like this, and although it isnt very long it defintly is 'short and sweet'. Give it a listen, 5 Stars!
I always thought that Lady GaGa's music was always worth a listen, when it was on the radio I wouldn't rush to change the station. Then Bad Romance was released, in my opinion a fantastic song & awesome video so I bought this album for my wife at Christmas as she was on about it (honest). What Brilliant value two quality albums in one! The second Cd has all the favourites, Poker face, Paparazzi, Just Dance and more. The 1st Cd is totally amazing, what a versatile performer, always sounds great, brilliant lyrics and definitely understated! If you want music that appeals to the youth culture and their parents (those of us 30+) then this is a MUST buy! Well done Lady Gaga, she puts Brit pop and X factor contestants to shame and she might look unusual but without question this is real talent at its best! Don't take my word for it, try this for yourself.
