Acolyte is the debut album by Manchester's Delphic, a band shortlisted for the BBC Sound of 2010. Delphic's motto is "The guitar is dead, long live the guitar!", and it's easy to see what they mean as they mix indie rock and euphoric electronics with great success. From the synth-led 'Doubt' to the punky guitars on 'Counterpoint', there's plenty to enjoy throughout, whilst fans of more complex musical structures will listen in awe at the manic percussion break on the exuberant 'This Momentary'. The epic 'Remain' is a fitting finale, with a faithful nod back to fello Manc electronic heroes New Order. Having supported a broad range of bands on tour such as Bloc Party, The Streets, Orbital and Kasabian, Delphic have proved themselves to have mass appeal across different genres.
  • 2009 has been spent touring the UK festival circuit, putting in appearances at T in the Park, Reading and Leeds Festivals, Creamfields and Bestival. April saw the release of the single Counterpoint, which was followed in August by This Momentary. The latter was nominated for three UK Music Video Awards, Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Telecine.

Originally heard 'Counterpoint' on Pro Evo Soccer and loved it so took a punt on this album and am not disappointed, it's all good! Also didn't realise I'd get a signed copy so well chuffed with that, thanks Play!
