Right from the off this album is loud, hard and fast. Paul Wellers Rickenbacker is thrashy and chiming, Bruce Foxtons criminally underrated bass playing provides a brilliant bottom line and drummer Rick Buckler does a great job of keeping up with their incredibly fast pace! Reminds me a lot of the Who and thats a good thing. Furthermore, it clocks in at only 35 minutes which is a good time considering you're absolutely knackered after the first 4 songs! Get this if you love good, punky, fast, raw music with a great sound and attitude. Its great!

The first Jam album which is very raw and powerful and has its roots in a mixture of punk and rock. Wellers voice is harsh and angry and the tracks are reminisant of live tracks. Some good up tempo stuff, and classics such as away from the numbers and art school. Not over produced by any stretch of the imagination, again one for the true Jam fans.
