One of the best albums of the nineties and one of the rawest and most powerful debut albums ever released. So many bands (especially nu-metal bands) wouldn't exist without Rage Against the Machine's splicing rap & hip-hop beats with metal rhythms and unorthodox guitar effects.
Politically aware lyrics and fired up vocals spat in signature rapid succession by Zack De La Rocha make for such a riot-inducing abrasive feel and Tim Commerford's hip-hop beat basslines fused with Brad Wilk's raw shattering drums and Tom Morello's metal riffs created a sound then unheard and now often imitated.
The most original part though is Morello's signature guitar wizardry, creating some truly phenomenal sounds through various unorthodox tuning and effects and various methods - astounding to this day.
Every track is a riot-starting anthem with such a funk and groove, an album that belongs in not just a rock fan's CD collection but EVERY music fan's. Classic benchmark in musical (particularly rock/metal) progression for bargain price.
