bought on a 500 mile journey in a foreign country and still opted for the radio, Well below par.

 Should not have doubted them!

I must admit I was not sure about the Red Hot Chilli Peppers would sound after John Frusciante leaving but the answer to my ears is great. It seems the others have raised their game with some great songs, mainly driven by Flea's intricate bass work and Chad's increasingly complex drumming. The new member Josh Klinghoffer plays in a similar style to Frusciante (he actually featured on his last solo album) but brings his own energy and creativity as well as providing backing vocals to Andrews vocals. This album gets better the more times I hear it with stand-out tracks Monarchy of Roses, Look Around, Goodbye Hooray and the heart felt Brendan's Death Song. More melodic than there earlier albums but still with a sense of fun a polished effort from a band growing up but not necessarily maturing!
