This first album from Free is a pick 'n' mix from their musical roots. It's blues, raw, rhythmic, passionate and ballsy. Mainly written by the band it shows a great understanding of the genre from kids so young. Their second album (Free) was summery and their thir (Fire & Water) soft rock but this shows what was their driving force. This is what they wanted to get down for posterity when Island gave them thier chance to record.

It's been worked up in their pre-contract performances and honed to this great concoction of riffs, belting vocals, solid rhythms, high production values, driving bass and gutsy lyrics - oozing sexuality. It's ageless, some achievement when you remember its over 40 years old now. Brilliant stuff
