Having been under the nation's radar since August, 18-year-old singing sensation Joe McElderry is no stranger to huge expectation. Winning the final of the 2009 X Factor in front of 19 million people, the smooth vocals of the confident youngster demonstrated a performer of remarkable talent, a talent which has perfectly transferred to the recording studio with his pitch-perfect single, The Climb. Already a worldwide hit for Miley Cyrus, the easy-on-the-ear ballad sits gently between country and pop, with McElderry's assured performance helping the track quickly establish itself as one of the feel-good tracks of the year. Hotly-tipped to top the festive charts, Joe McElderry is set to follow in the footsteps of fellow X Factor winners Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke and become a permanent fixture in the nation's hearts, The Climb suggests he's made the perfect start.

In all honestly, It's not the best thing I have ever heard. It would have been nice to hear something that wasn't a ballad or a theatrical song from Jo for once? I don't particularly find his voice interesting or different. It's just not "outstanding".
i agree and am happy that joe won the xfactor but his version is no where near as good as miley cyrus's.
I'm really happy Joe won (I liked Danyl too), he was so genuinely happy with what he'd achieved he's got a very good voice and I really like his version of the climb. I'm used to the Miley version but I still think he sings it well. It also has two other songs which are probably some of the best performances he did on the show. Personally, I think a better 'winners song' could have been chosen and the song itself is not as good as previous winners Leona's, Alexandra's and Shayne Ward's songs.
I really like his voice and am likely to buy his album in the future.
no song is going to be better the the original , but this is a lovley version joes voice is amazing and well worth buying .
Both Olly and Joe were amazing - Never liked the original version of the song but I loved Joe's version.
