I was expecting the new tracks to sound poor and unfinished and the already released tracks on this album to sound the same as they had done in other versions, but I was very surprised. Not only could have tracks like Valley Of Neptune made it on any other album of Hendrix's but the already released tracks were the best versions i had heard to date, Especially "I hear my train comin" and "Fire" I have 20 plus hendrix albums in my collection and this is up there with the best of them.

 Suprisingly mindblowing!!

There seems to be a few Hendrix fans out there not too sure about what to make of this latest 'new album'. The frequent groans of the material not being finished, decidedly inferior and another exercise in barrel scrapping and opportunistic cashing in by Experience Hendrix have all been familiar critisisms. I have to admit, i wasnt expecting a new Electric Ladyland thats for sure. I therefore couldnt believe my ears when i first heard how good this album was. The scorch marks around my ear lobes are still there! The music on this disc is the most enjoyable and satisfying i've heard since 'First Rays' and 'South Saturn Delta'. There are performances on here that top a lot of those on the first three 'holy grail' albums. There is much to enjoy and celebrate on EVERY track in this collection. Hendrix guitar playing is very near its best on this album. The solos on Hear my Train A comin, Bleeding Heart and Ships Passing in the Night are just mindblowing and worth the cd price alone. His haunting chordal progressions on the superb title track and on Cryin Blue Rain are typically par for the course for a rhythm player of Hendrix unrivalled abilities. His vocals shine throughout this album also. Much of this, i believe is due to the fantastic sound quality representing a triumph for the sound engineer - Eddie Krammer (Hendrix producer during his lifetime).VON is rapidly accumulating strong reviews across the atlantic - the title track single has just produced Hendrix very first Billboard US single no 1 ahead of Lady Gaga. All in all, Valleys of Neptune hits the spot and made the hair stand on my neck. It is a worthy addition to the already brilliant shining musical legacy of one truly unique talent of the like we may never see again.

 Jimi Hendrix at his best!!

I wasn't sure hwat this would be like initionally, but it is a fantastic album. The re-makes of the older stuff he did are fantastic, with additions of covers like Sunshine of your Love, originally a Cream song. If you are a blues rock fan, and a Hendrix fan, then I would highly reccommend this album!!

This is a fine album. Worthy of the Hendrix legacy. If you're worried that it might be a collection of cutting room floor out-takes, or part finished demos brushed up, dusted off and put out 'for the money': don't be!
This is an album full of good songs, new and old: the old are great versions of classics, with 'Hear My Train' standing out in particular, with its shades and echoes of 'Machine Gun', and 'Red House' having a new dimension added.
The album has a light feel, with the delicate touch of Hendrix at his grooviest, swinging best, all of the songs amply demonstrate what an awesome rhythm player he was as well as being filled with those light, blues driven phrases that came to signify his genius.
What he doesn't play speaks volumes. We sometimes forget what a great composer he was.
I am so pleased I bought this album, it's up there with the best of them for me.
It's a joy to be reminded of what Jimi brought to the guitar and what he could do with it, drawing out such emotion and having so much fun doing it: you can really feel these songs are being played for the sheer enjoyment of the music.
It's a source of great sorrow that we'll never know what direction he could have taken with his music had he lived.
Noel and Mitch (and Billy!), legends in their own right. What a band! What an album!
