I've been a great lover of Rob Zombie's work since first hearing Hellbilly Deluxe, but I have to say that he has deffinitely brought out an album that in my opinion surpases any of his previous releases. From first hearing "Sick Bubble Gum" I knew that I would love the new album. Since incorporating his touring band into the record it has made the album seem that much more of a fuller record than Sinister Urge or Hellbilly Deluxe, and with the help of John 5 they have created something that I would say is truly a masterpiece. Every song is as catchy as the last and will make you want to listen over again. So if your having trouble deciding whether to give it a listen check out his new video for "Sick Bubble Gum" and you'll think otherwise. A great album for the new or old school zombie fans!! All Hail Rob Zombie!!!
One thing a lot of metal bands seem to be doing lately is going from very Heavy Metal to Melodic and more toned down material Pretty much what Rob Zombie did before he started directing films
So I listened to this album with an open mind to see if I would be surprised or disappointed
Straight away I hear the Rob Zombie we all know and love returning with his old school heavy metal style making me think ahhhhh ok so this might be interesting Kicking off with the first track Sick bubblegum which I am already resisting the urge to hit the skip button Still on edge I hope that the rest of the album would not disappoint from What? To Burn every song had either my feet tapping or head nodding away
There is also a lot of guitar solos in this song which I havent really noticed in his other songs so that makes a nice change
One thing I miss is the odd fast song as it was Super beast that got me into Rob Zombie and I guess I was hoping for similar tunes on this album although Werewolf Women of the SS delivered nicely
On the whole I am very happy with this album and dont regret getting it
still getting used to educated horses, but this one was an instant hit for me, its hevey, its melodic, typical zombie lyrics deliverd with his trade mark lunecy and power.
its great stuff
every song on this album is great, best album zombie has done and john 5 guitar work is awsome!
After a near 12 year gap between the original Hellbilly Deluxe and this new release, not to mention a number of tepid releases in that time frame, I wasn't holding out for much. Fortunately Rob has delivered an album that not only does his name justice, but is as good or better than his releases of more than a decade ago. 2010 is shaping up as a good year for metal indeed.
