i loved the first album, it's a classic! 'Demon Days' is good but i was slightly disappointed. However 'Plastic Beach; is solid gold! it's a perfect pop album from beginning to end! the sheer quality of the guest stars (Kano, Bashy, Mark E. Smith, Lou Reed, Mos Def, Paul & Mick from The Clash etc.) is amazing, but they don't detract from Albarn's songwriting talent- if anything they enhance it! Damon's done it again! that boy can't help making classic albums :)

as many others have said, i too wondered whether this album would have classic Gorillaz songs as previous albums do... initially i was unsure but after each play through it seems i develop a new favourite, overall i would say this is their best album to date and definitely the most intelligent and musically creative. just some of my favourites include - empire ants, stylo, some kind of nature, to binge and plastic beach. Gorillaz continue to innovate and i cant stop listening them. (also the experience edition is the best as you get a cool documentary)

It breaks my heart to read peoples' negative reviews. I think this is the most amazing album to have graced my ears in the past year. I'm not being biased, though, what with me being a huge fan of the band - I genuinly think this album is a musical masterpiece. I normally don't like songs that are just tunes with no lyrics, but these songs, even though they do have lyrics, have had A LOT of effort put into the tunes. Except for 2D's wonderful singing voice, these instrumental sections are the main reason I absolutely adore this album.
True, when I first heard the album, I had my doubts whether it contained any solid 'Feel Good Inc.s', 'DAREs', 'Dirty Harrys' or 'Clint Eastwoods'. Those singles were so strong; I am unsure if there are any contained in this album. Don't get me wrong, I would give my most prized possesion for this album! But only time will tell.

Already having written the above for the Standard Edition, let me also add my remarks here for the Experience Edition. I love the fact that this CD isn't packaged in the usual plastic casing - it really helps bring the message of the album across! I also adore the art - it's all so colourful and it makes me happy to see my favourite characters in all-new images. The booklet is also very neat. It doesn't have all the lyrics, but beside that, it looks awesome. Buyers of this edition can get access to a game on the Gorillaz official website, also, as well as the great 'making of' DVD.
This album has been playing in my house and car every night non-stop. All the other songs on my iPod are being completely ignored! Before I go to bed, I plug myself in and just let the amazing music carry me to sleep. I just listen to it for hours into the night. There is a great mix of songs on here, including some heart-wrenching ones, in my opinion.
Whatever your taste, you will not be disppointed.
