American Slang was the first song of the Gas Light Anthem I heard and I instantly liked it. They're a different type of rock that i'd listen to normally and a breath of fresh air. The song has a very catchy riff to it and the lyrics are strong.

If I was to describe how good each song was then i'd just be typing the same things. I can't pick which song is the weakest.

One thing about the album as a whole though is, it only has 10 songs which is shorter than a standard album nowadays and only one song actually exceeds 4 minutes long. So yeah, it is quite a short album. But HEY! It's the quality that matters, not length.

I'm a new member of the Gaslight Anthem fan-club. I first heard this album when one of my colleagues played it at work and I instantaneously fell in love with it- I don't know why but something just connected.
Gaslight Anthem mix some of the most soulful and deep lyrics- Brian Fallon, their vocalist, also has one of the best, slightly gritty yet still smooth, voices I've heard in a long time -with typical American rock music and WOW, they do it well.
Each and every song on this album never fails to mellow me out AND make me sing along but the standouts are definitely Boxer, Diamond Church Street Choir and Orphans.

 Worth a listen.

Its great to find an album of absolute gems that appears to have been missed by the reviews. Maybe its the obvious Bruce Springsteen comparisions that puts people off, but at least the Gaslight are writing songs that stand well against some of the his greatest works. Top draw and cant wait for more!

The Gaslight Anthem have always impressed with thier ability to develop thier sound, and they certainly have not dissapointed with this absolutely stunning album. A brave step away from The '59 Sound and in my opinion a step into being one of the all time great bands. A must have album!

The Gaslight Anthem are a true hidden gem, begs the question why aren't they known worldwide. Not that im bothered, buy this and the 59 sound(best album of the past ten years), buy it, buy it, buy it!!!!!!!!!!

Been a fan since 2008 and this album shows that the music has matured & have taken the next step foward. I think 59 sound is still better than American Slang, but how can you top 59 Sound for me one of the best albums in the last 5 years.

If you expect 59 Sound part 2 your in for a shock because in this album The Gaslight Anthem have found their sound. The more you hear it, the more you will love it. The album has a good mixture of faster & slower tracks. My favourite tracks are the faster one American Slang & Old Haunts. Still you've got to love the style of The Queen Of Lower Chelsea & The Diamond Church Street Choir.
The Gaslight Anthem are a true band.

 A must see live!!

I didnt think any album released by the gaslight could match up to the 59 sound but this really is a great album. Definitely the best album i have bought all year and has a refreshing sound compared to all the mainstream rubbish that tops the charts. The Gaslight Anthem are one of my favourites bands and really should get more recognition. Going to see them live in October and cant wait! Great album!! Go buy it!!

They just get better and better

This is simply flawless. Better than 59 Sound? I think so, a lot better and that was a superb album too.
