On Through The Night was Def Leppards first album and apart from High n' Dry (their second), is my favourite of their. The reason, it is a more raw, deep purple esque sound they had in those days. Still in the era of punk it captured a little of the aggression but none of the extremeness but also had some brilliant guitar work along with it.
Def Leppards later, more commercial albums, in particular Adrenalize, just haven't aged that well and don't capture the same feel as their earlier work does which still sounds great today. It is a shame they changed their style as this is what they are best at.
Stand out tracks, well I would have to say the lot because it really is a great album, but Rock Brigade starts things off with a bang and it just gets better form there. If you like Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy of any of those bands you should enjoy this album.
