The Smith's were one of the UK's best bands with Morrissey' s bittersweet lyrics blending perfectly with Johnny Marr's upbeat complex music.
This album collects the best of The Smiths and features some cracking tunes. Morrissey's influential sardonic and literate lyrics are bordering on genius and his unique singing voice is as good as any singer over the last 20 years.
My favourite songs on this album include Panic, Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now, Ask, Bigmouth Strikes Again, How Soon Is Now?, Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others and Girlfriend in a Coma.
I'm sure hardcore Smiths fans will tell you that this album is missing some other classic songs but personally I think most of their best work is here.
The Smith's are one of the most important alternative rock bands to emerge from Britain. This is the perfect introduction to their genius.
