well, I suppose I'll just be repeating what most people have already said bout this album!! oh well...
If you exclude the 2 swamp song tracks (6 & 11), u have 10 amazing songs!! written at the point in time when Oasis were, as Noel rightfully put it, bigger than God!! It contains four iconic singles that will never, can never, go out of fashion ('Some Might Say', 'Roll With It', 'Wonderwall', 'Dont Look Back In Anger') In fact, those last 2 both have a shot at being named 'best song ever written' imo...
but why this album is so brilliant, is that the tracks in between the singles are just as good!! 'Hello' (possibly my fave Oasis song!!), 'Hey Now!', 'She's Electric', 'Cast No Shadow'... on any other album, they would be the leading singles!!!
2 songs that weren't released as singles (well, not in Britain anywayz) are 2 amazing songs that probly should've been!! 'Morning Glory' and 'Champagne Supernova'!! the latter being an amazing song, full of emotion...
at the end of the day, if ur reading this, and u've never heard some of these songs, then u really are missing out... on a piece of British Music History...
The greatest album ever. Period.

So many different reasons for this, I'll go through a few
1. recnetly voted the 2nd best album ever by NME behind def maybe, should be 1st. def maybe is a cd full of 11 awesome songs, this is an album containing 1 long masterpiece, it flows. the best example of this is the way the swamp song in track 11 merges into champagne supernova, musical genius
2. some of the most iconic singles ever, wonderwall, dont look back in anger
3. at least one song to encapsulate every possible mood - aggression in morning glory, relaxation in champ. supernova and sadness in cast no shadow
4. nothing against gem archer and andy bell, but contains the best oasis line-up (guigsy and bonehead were still there)
5. reminiscent of when good albums were being released regularly, and not every 6 months like these days
50 minutes and 49 seconds of a masterpiece!
the soundtrack of the mid 1990's

this album is THE soundtrack of the mid 1990's. everyone who was alive then will remember when Wonderwall, Dont Look Back In Anger and Some Might Say were played pretty much everywhere (unless you have a particularly crap memory).
musically it may rip off numerous bands from the past, but there is still a certain drive and edge to it. the lyrics dont make much sense, but they still mean so much to people (what is a Wonderwall?). Dont Look Back In Anger is a timeless classic, as is Wonderwall, which is up there with Liam's best vocals. Champagne Supernova is epic beyond the usual definitions of 'epic' while the soulful reflective Cast No Shadow is pure brilliance.
this may not be the best album ever made, or even the best Oasis album ever made, but it is without a doubt, one of the most important ones, and even if you hate(d) them, one of the most memorable ones.
definitely 1 of the best ever

Theres nothing you can add really to what has already been said about this album. Its a classic, and not even the best album that Oasis have put out. Every song on here is amazing - not just the singles but the album tracks too. Everyone knows Wonderwall and Don't Look Back In Anger, but Champage Supernova is an anthem of epic proportions, She's Electric is the ultimate summer song and Cast No Shadow takes the tempo down a peg or two. If you don't own this album, shame on you. You're missing out on genious.
What's the Story? Well... the usual

There's not much to be said about this classic, and all the things that are said, are just all good. I'm sure for any sane person that lived in the 90's, Oasis were huge and this along with Definitely Maybe was a force not to be reckoned with.
The album captures the defining sound of the era of britpop with the electric opening of 'Hello' and outlines the new and exciting sound the band were creating with their newly signed drummer Alan White. Many believe that Definitely Maybe was the best, but in my opinion this albums just touches the post first with such classics as the haunting 'Wonderwall', the rocky singles 'Roll with it' and 'Some might say' along with the rave sounding 'Morning Glory', the closing 'Champagne Supernova' and of course, one the best songs ever to fill the ears of any music fan 'Don't look back in anger' which all shaped a generation.
This album needs no introduction, if you still have it, well done, if you don't, do yourself a favour and get it now!!
