This can only be beaten by The Josua Tree so it can only therefore be an excellent album. It took years afterwards until one day I though my god what an album. The Fly is possibly U2s best song of all time

I love JT but I just love AB more...

OK so I know everyone thinks Joshua Tree is their best album - and I was there from 1983 so watched them arrive to that magical point - but to be honest... I prefer to listen to Achtung Baby. It remains one of my favourite albums of all time and evokes memories and passions just as strong as from the whole of the JT period. It is a true masterpiece, contains some of the best tracks ever performed by U2 and has stood the test of time possibly even better than The Joshua Tree. Damn it....get the boxed sets of both of them!!!

It's no secret that the stars are falling from the sky

Another amazing album from the boys from Ireland, in their 1990 reinvention this album proves "EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS WRONG" at least when it comes to the bands spirit. With songs like "One" and "The Fly" this album as Bono correctly stated "is the sound of four men chopping down the Joshua Tree" and although many still think that "The Joshua Tree" is the true masterpiece of this truly talented band, me and many others would say they couldn't be more wrong! Achtung Baby is a brilliant re-invention of what U2 is all about, now with The Edge, Larry and Adam coming out of their shells the band is moving at the speed of light away from the ignorant belief that Bono IS the band, with The Edge finding the signature sound newer fans cherish and Larry becoming more edgy with his drumming, then there is Adam which usually provides the backbone of many of the songs on this beautifully crafted album. I would truly suggest buying this album wether you are a newbie to U2 or have been a fan since the days where they played at markets every other weekend!

This album just goes to show that U2 is versatile and has many more tricks they haven't revealed yet.

 Their best!

Although many consider "The Joshua Tree" to be U2's best album, I believe that "Achtung Baby" is their true masterpiece! After the tour that followed the JT and Rattle & Hum albums Bono said "we have to dream it all up again". And surely they did. Amazing songs, Bono's best lyrical and vocal moment, genius production by Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois. And of course, it includes one of the best rock songs ever: "One"

 The bands finest hour.

I don't buy all this "U2 haven't been decent since the Joshua Tree" talk, I think that's a bit of a myth, that seems fashionable to say, and thankfully the charts and the bands continuing success says otherwise.

Anyway, as for this album, it's without a doubt the finest album, Zoo Station makes for the perfect opening, while the hit single 'Even Better Than The Real Thing' will really get you going, then of course you have the slow paced tracks like 'One' and 'You're So Cruel' (which SHOULD have been a single in my opinion).

Mysterious Ways is another top track, and who can forget the number one single 'The Fly'.

If there are three U2 albums you should own, it would be this one, The Joshua Tree and Boy.

(In my opinion of course).
