  The essential introduction to Trip-Hop

| | See all PlanetExpress's reviews (21)

Massive Attack pioneered the Trip-Hop sound with this debut record. And it sounds awesome! Mixing electronic beats, dub reggae, hip-hop and alternative, Blue Lines is a ground-breaking effort. The tracks are usually divided into two lines: First you have the brilliant female-vocal led soul tracks over a dub rhythm, and the other is the male rap tracks. (not gangsta, I'm talking classice hip-hop) All are great. Its an essential record for any music collection

One of the best British albums ever!

What do you get when you mix Electronic, Soul, Hip Hop and Dub. You get one of the best British albums ever. Every song is really good, with a great mix of genres, half of the album is quite cold and dark when the other half is very bright and uplifting. It does take a few listens to really get into, but a real fan of music that listens to a load of music and diffrent genres will really love this. And this album is one to have kicked of the Trip Hop genre so you know its special.

Can't believe this one hasn't been reviewed, an out and out classic without any weaknesses, dark, dubby and delightful.
