Was the arrival of Dickinson the best thing that happened to Maiden? Well, they did move to the top of the heavy metal world later in the 80's, and it started with this very good album. Most of the tracks are real killers. Well produced and great performances from the band.

This was the first Maiden album I ever bought. Now, every track reminds me of that 'just getting into Iron Maiden' time. I never thought they'd soar up my favourite bands list so soon afterwards, and the next year I'd be seeing them live for the first time! Every song's a gem, there's not one I don't like. And you can tell it's Bruce's first album with the band, even his singing voice sounds so young! He's an incredible singer whose vocals are on top form here. As usual, then :)

This has got to be one of the best cds to get if your in to heavy metal music. Some amazing guitaring and beautiful vocals and the drumming being awesome. The best Britsh heavy metal band ever closely followed by black sabbath

This has got to be one of the best maiden albums. Dickinsons first album, with great hits 'Run to the hills' and 'Number of the beast' included. My fav song has got to be 'hallowed by thy name'. I personally think all the songs on this album are great and you dont find many albums like that. If you love maiden or your just started listening to metal music give this a listen. This is much better than the stuff that gets released nowadays. Harris is a legend.

what is there to say?? this album has it ,the production the sound the look the cover the attitude the hits the epics the solos the screams the machine gun fills two slight fillers (invaders and gangland ,which are both tidy numbers anyway!) and the rest total maiden classics!!
the guitars are so raunchy on this one ! the drums are slick and precise, and bruce sounds mighty!!
a peak effort !! 8/10

I have every Iron Maiden album and I enjoy them all, I really appreciate this one for being 'the start of an era' with Bruce Dickinson who replaced Paul Di'anno, my personal faviroutes from this album are, The Number of the beast, 22 Acacia Avenue, Hallowed be thy name and Gangland. You have to appreciate this in its 25th year as to being in Maidens top 5 greatest albums.

I own all of maidens album including greatest hits and live albums and to be honest this is one of the best Bruce is the best vocallist they've ever had and to be honest the sound quality is awsome aswell. Even the less well known songs on this album like Gangland and Children Of The Damned are brilliant. If i have to pick some favorite tracks off the album (even though the whole album is brilliant) i would probably choose Hallow'd Be Thy Name, 22 Acacia Avenue and Run To The Hills, but to be honest there isn't a song on it that i wouldn't give 10 out of 10 so just listen to it all.

The first Maiden album with Bruce Dickenson as the new singer takes the band to a new level.

Apart from the obvious classics, the title track and Run to the Hills, this album contains further classics that remain live favourites now. Hallowed Be Thy Name is the classic start slowly and build up to breakneck speed metal sound. This also has possibly the longest singing of the word low!

The Prisoner and 22 Acacia Avenue are also classic Maiden and Childrenof the Damned is reasonably close to a Maiden ballad!

There are moments on this album where Maiden sound a little like Judas Priest but with more meat to the songs and a deeper lyrical content.

This is a fantastic starting point for anyone wishing to get into the band before it all went a little bit Prog when Bruce rejoined in 1999!
