As a massive fan of the Barenaked Ladies, I highly recommend this album as an essential addition to anyone's collection. Even if you have their albums, this is still a great album to own; including 2 new songs - "It's only me (the wizard of magicland)" and "Thanks that was fun". "Get in Line", and "Lovers in a Dangerous Time" are the 2 songs that they've also included that have not previously been released by BNL to go with the many other great songs on here.
The beauty of BNL is that they mix very real, serious issues, but in a light-hearted way. Their music is done in such a humorous way, that each song is extremely catchy. You've probably heard their songs somewhere, whether on TV, or film soundtracks, but as soon as I had a listen - I was hooked!
My personal favourites are: "Old Apartment" - an awesome song to rock out to! ; The slow ballad "Call and Answer" and the great melodic "Pinch Me". The two singers (Steve Page, Ed Robertson) have such strong voices, complimenting the music perfectly with outstanding harmonies.
I think BNL are a very under-rated band, and this album is a credit to their career to date. Every song on this album is a joy, and it's an album I keep going back to.
For anyone that's new to BNL, or unsure of them, this is a great way to 'get into them' - providing a great insight of all their best songs. If you are not sure whether you would like their music then I suggest you give them a go!!
