while this may be lower on my list of favoritism of MADONNA albums, this one is pretty great compared to im breathless which i dont like that much this album really gets the point across and has very in your face lyrics, although a few duds on the album it is impressive and gritty, AMERICAN LIFE is the best track on here and is a powerful song, love that rap towards the end...+ glad she dosen rap that often...makes it more special :):)

On the first play I was admittedly slightly disappointed with this album. After playing it a few times - WOW! What an album. It's quite gritty and a little political for the Madgster, and I love it. It certainly reflects the change inside her after marrying an English bloke, living in England and seeing the US and Americans as hedonistic and self-righteous - which they are. All Brits should love this album. The songs are completely eclectic, from the strong American Life to the soft Love Profusion, from the failed Die Another Day to the ironic title of Nothing Fails - brilliant. Madge at her finest to date.

I'm not a huge Madonna fan, but have all her albums and i've got to say this is my favourite. Everybody else seemed to hate it but i thought it was brilliant. I think it's the best thing she's done. Okay the rap on "American Life" is terrible but apart from that it's a really good album. Madonna coming of age to me. Far better than "confessions on a dancefloor".
