American Anthems (3CD)

dont get me wrong all these tracks are classics but to tag them as all american is very sloppy as david coverdale(lead singer with whitesnake)was born in the north east of england,billy idol was born in middlesex and cutting crew primarary london.

I caught the tail end of an advert for this CD with a sample of a couple of tracks I like. Having gone through all 3 cd's there isn't a bad track on any of them. This is a great CD. Great service from play.com. ordered Sunday night delivered Wednesday morning.

for as long as the charts have been in existance there has allways been a strong 'american' presence.
looking back on it, must admit i'm a little suprised there hasn't been a lot more albums available such as this.
a earlier reviewer said every-number was a winner on this 3-cd set, 'spot-on' it's brilliant.
the compilation covers many of the great songs and names spanning a 30 or so year span, although to be honest around 60%-plus is from the 80's.
among the great tracks on board 'foreigner's' ---'i want to know what love is' ( allways a firm favourite of mine ) 'the cars' --'drive' ( an all time classic ) 'billy idol's' ---'white wedding' ( a must own track ) 'santana's' ----'she's not there' ( great power-ballad ) also from the 'rocky' films---'survivor's' ----'eye of the tiger' ----no american power ballad or anthem album would be the same without a 'tina turner' track ---this album has 'what's love got to do with it' on board---along with 'meatloaf / cher's---'dead ringer for love' --------the 'america' track on board a re-recorded version of their '70's' hit, also the massive hit from 'top gun' by 'berlin'----take my breath away' ( one of the all-time great pop sounds ) ---just love this album, other artist's include ---'patti smith' -- 'journey' --'chicago'-- 'jennifer rush'--'boston' ---'cyndi lauper'---with her version of 'true colours' -----'cutting crew' ---'hall and oates' ---'the calling' -------along with 'david gates' ( bread's ) great love ballad -'baby i'm a want you' -----not forgetting one of the all-time great 'american' anthems written as a tribute to 'buddy holly' ---'don mclean's' --'american pie'
in truth every artist on board is worthy of a mention ---however have to stop somewhere------just check out the track-list, i'm sure you'll agree this 'set' is just to good to miss................enjoy.

Never have i had a compilation of CD'S that i think it is all brilliant, I listend to this and rememberd every song , it is a big hit in our home, When's the next one out lol.
