whatever they say about prince, whatever he did later on: this is THE album that made him a star, as big as michael jackson but a little bit (!!!) dirtier. almost all the songs on this album are hitsingles (let's go crazy, when doves cry, purple rain, i would die for U). the pace is very uplifting, the music is fantastic, the lyrics beautiful and edgy and straight. and it's all about love (no problem) and sex (and this made it very controversial, with a PG rating because of explicit lyrics. although most of all the sex is packed in very original metaphors....but if you listen carefully...)
prince on top of the world, well deserved, containing one of the most beautiful love songs ever: purple rain.
    a personal all time favourite.

One of the best Albums around

I love this album! its just strong from start to finish! Prince at his very best! I wish a deluxe edition was released of this album! which would include stuff like the extended version of Crazy! outtakes! whatever is locked away in a vault somewhere :) have it packaged in a purple Diary! now thats a seriously cool idea! and I think any Prince fan will agree with me :)

     Shoulda been more?

I thoroughly agree with the music4life`s review. This album epitomises the 80`s funk/rock sound. One minor niggle for me though , as a soundtrack ,I would have enjoyed to hear all the bands that appeared in the movie (The Time , Appollonia 6 , The Modernaires etc ) rather than having to purchase separate albums to hear those tracks. But all in all Purple Rain , to me , is an artist at his very best.Every song a winner . Buy It!

     Stunning

One of the most fantastic albums of the 80's, Prince reached worldwide fame with 'purple rain' a perfect document of his orignal talent.

A funk/pop/ rock album for all music fans young and old..and you can't go wrong with the price.
