Maybe THE best album of the ninties?

Even though Soundgarden were not huge and were basically playing in the shadow of the almighty Nirvana. Soundgarden, were the guys that were there first and brought grunge/alt rock out into the open. This album reeks of those times, with new sounds new riffs, and Cornells excellent voice bellowing throughout the album.
The opener, Let me Drown, just turn it up and blasted through time and through such a kick ass song, which launches you into a Spiral of Mega solos, SPOON solos! and some Ultra mega Superunknown Kick ass songs. BUY THIS ALBUM

 Must buy

Do NOT buy one copy of this album. You will need to buy two & keep one as a spare 'cos the first one will disintegrate from overplaying!

This has to be one of the greatest albums of all time.
Powerfully evocative if a little dark.
Every track is a classic.
An album that just gets better with age.

Enjoy.

This is Soundgardens best album overall.

I know I have said this is Soundgardens best album and only giving it 4 stars because for me, I prefer Aduioslave and the most brilliant Temple Of The Dog album. For those people that don't know they are two other groups in which Chris Cornell is the lead singer for too. The best thing about this Superunknown album is if you strip away the music is that every single song pretty much has wonderful lyrics. The songs Black Hole Sun and The Day I Tried To Live are both tremendous. The main thing that lets Soundgarden down for me is that I find their tunes are rather tuneless in the main. If their tunes were better then yes 5 stars no problem but as it is just compare this to the Temple Of The Dog and you will see where I am coming from.

 Totally kick-@ss

Right from the first track you are shot into one of the grunge era's greatest albums; heavy, melody, fierce and all together outstanding.

Soundgarden's superunknown i would argue is their greatest album, just because it seems like they've put so much effort into their sound and their songs, and the result is that you'll have hard rock songs like 'let me drown', 'my wave' and 'fresh tendrils' to name a few, then you are the given heavy, gritty, satisfying 'mailman' and '4th of july', not to mention the fantastic works of 'spoonman', 'she likes surprises' and of course 'black hole sun'.

But don't expect your head to be blown off all the way through however. Soundgarden tone things down with some tracks for a more, for want of a better word, relaxed feel with 'head down', 'half' and 'like suicide'. They know perfectly when to knock it back into gear however, and you won't be disappointed.

I've been listening to this album for years, and of course tastes vary from person to person, but if you are a rock fan, particularly a grunge fan, you need this album. Your collection just isn't complete without it.
