I bought this album after I got into Dookie in 1999 and since then its pretty much held its status as one of my favourite albums of all time. In my opinion this is Green Days best ever album. Anyone who is just getting into them because of American Idiot or 21st Century Breakdown give this album a go for edgier more punky guitar and honest biographical lyrics that blow you away.
Babs Uvula Who? is one of my all time favourite songs, but there isnt a bad track you want to skip on the whole CD and it never gets old... at least not in the ten years I have had it. 5 stars.
Billy Joe writes how he feels

I was very pleasantly surprised when I recieved this CD, way back in '96 for my birthday, to be honest I was not a fan of Green Day I always related them to poppy, simple tunes, not rough and fast punk.
The songs on this album really tell the story of the writer, the one and only Billie Joe Armstrong and his struggles through life... from being a nobody to part of the elite... Leading a path of self destruction with drugs... Being "86ed"... and dealing with his panic attacks...
All the songs here though I have to admit are similitar in tone, really seem even after all this time to strike a chord with me I can STILL relate to what he's talking about they're catchy and and when you've got it on full can really get the blood flowing!!
All in all I think like myself you can't go wrong in this purchase a classic that throroughly deserved to do better than it did back then. It's up their with The Sex Pistols and The Clash for doing your own thing... punk at it's best
Enjoy!!
